Sports Analogy - Should Democrats Ride The Refs (Media) More?
In what has become an election ritual for the past three elections, the GOP and the press itself has been complaining about the liberal media despite clear evidence (Fox, especially) that the Media is pro-GOP. The uncritical run-up to the Iraq war is the most glaring example of the free ride that the press has given to the GOP and its candidates allowing such candidates to spout off hysterical charges like "Obama is not fit!" without challenging such non-sense.

The question is whether the Democrats should also do a better job of whining, complaining about the referees? In a basketball game, some coaches routinely ride the referees calling for every call to be made in their favor. Does this work for the press? Should the Democrats go out and start whining and complaining for calls?

1. If they do, they need to be smart about it, because "whining and complaining"
will be what they're accused of doing. That's the problem when the media is largely in the tank for the opposition.

2. Look At Coach K At Duke - Serial Complainer About Fouls
Maybe the key is to just always whine and complain so that the press gets tired of saying that you whine and complain. Duke basketball always gets away with murder on the basketball court. However, when you see Coach K on the sidelines, you'd swear that his team is getting butchered out there on the Court as he works the referees. He does it so often that no referee has the nerve to call a technical on him, because he does it so often. So long as Coach K does not go Bobby Night, and toss a chair, he can complain with impunity.

My take is the GOP is like Coach K, though in this cycle they have cone close to Bobby Knight territory. It works in college basketball. Coach K would not do it if it did not work. Should the Democrats pull a Coach K?
