And so the spin begins...Scarborough said that Barack blew off
visiting the injured troops in Germany in order to give the speech in Berlin. Wanna bet that that will be repeated all day today. They called Scarborough bright and early to tell him the talking points.

2. Only it's not true, but hey, Scarborough is not interested in the facts when he can smear Obama.
Edited on Fri Jul-25-08 05:51 AM by flpoljunkie
Obama was told that since he was no longer traveling with a Congressional delegation his trip would be political, and he was therefore, denied permission to see the troops.

It's not just Condi trying to thwart Obama's trip overseas.

26. I think you need to produce a link on that one
As a sitting US Senator, Obama has the right to visit any US base at any time. There is no difference between Obama visiting a military base in the US than visiting a base in Germnay.

No one on this thread has cited an online story. All saw the telecast live two hours ago. If you need to verify it in writing, you might check the MSNBC site.

Typical "Morning Jerk!"

Andrea also said there were unconfirmed reports that someone connected to John McCain has pulled strings to keep Obama from visiting the wounded troops at Ramstein on his way out of Germany.

Joe ignored this, of course.

16. Andrea Mitchell, of all people, nailed him on that. Bush won't let him see them.
That is how sorry Bush really is. He used his control of the military to stop Obama from visiting injured troops. That is one more measure of what a sorry, slimey, no good, SOB George W. Bush really is.

I hope this story gets heavy play today. It should.

18. lol. Turned it on for a second and then turned it off, Morning Joe is Fox and Friends
Just turned it on for a second, I guess Joe was talking to Chuck Todd about a David Brooks column, and Joey the Scar said "What happened, David Brooks was GAGA a couple of months ago for Obama!" Uh, ok, Joe....Chuck Todd said that it may have played better than we think because people used to criticize Reagan the same way for his speeches. Joe then started to say "McCain drew a great contrast yesterday....went to a German restaurant in Middle America". Honestly, Joe thinks that was a brilliant move or something. Great contrast is one way of putting it....

23. The US military has already publicly addressed and refuted that lie.
Supposedly, some Utah National Guard Reservist started that lie, and the military immediately put out a statement denying any truth to the things he claimed in the email.

31. I gotta believe this one will blow up in their faces.
Joe S. was all prepared to give the story legs, but Andrea Mitchell killed it asap with her info. Clearly, Bushies were behind the action, because they have never turned away McCain, and he's made one political appearance after another using troops as a backdrop.

It's the kind of seedy thing we've come to expect from the most immoral administration in the history of our country.

Obama scraps visit to wounded US troops in Germany
15 hours ago

BERLIN (AP) — Sen. Barack Obama scrapped plans to visit wounded members of the armed forces in Germany as part of his overseas trip, a decision his campaign said was made because the Democratic presidential candidate thought it would be inappropriate on a campaign-funded journey.

A campaign adviser said the U.S. military saw the visit as a campaign stop.

"We learned from the Pentagon last night that the visit would be viewed instead as a campaign event," the adviser, retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Scott Gration, said in a statement. "Senator Obama did not want to have a trip to see our wounded warriors perveived as a campaign event when his visit was to show his appreciation for our troops and decided instead not to go."

Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign immediately criticized the move.
