1. As planned, the price went down a few cents
And everyone is relieved with the misconception that they are going to go back down to below $2. It was that simple to deceive the American people.

3. Only morons and the criminally insane believe that.
Unfortunately, the U.S. has a large number of both.

10. That is the only rational explanation..
WTF? We have two oil men who have been in charge of this country for nearly eight years. Dick Cheney held SECRET energy policy meetings that the SCOTUS deemed should remain SECRET. Do any sane rational people actually believe that this has nothing to do with energy prices? :wtf: :argh:

4. I blame the public for always, ALWAYS accepting the 1st fabricated quick fix
I remember hearing about the offshore drilling gimmick way back and the 1st thing that came to mind was .. ah shit, the public is going to buy into it (again), not because the media is propping it up as a revolutionary solution (the media is being the media and blows with what they feel will get ratings), but more importantly that the general public NEEDS to hear Seaseme-Street-1-2-3 understandable solutions that, from a narrow POV, makes them think that it will bring down gas prices, despite the fact that when you do more commonsense thinking, or god forbid actually listen to the democrats, it is obviously a terrible idea and wont do anything for prices. This current dropping of prices is not because of the idea of dirlling, but to the public it is now verification since it has got a lot of talk linking both.

Democrats need something to counter this....just be glad we are still 4-months out. I feel for the democrats running for office now because this is now the republicans new go to punch.

But being 4-months out from the GE anything can happen..i just hope democrats will start playing OFFENSE because its a bit frustrating watching republicans attack.

5. What has everyone forgot? Tell a lie 3 times and it becomes truth.
It worked for the last 8 years very well for pukes.

6. Did we lose that issue already?
The Democrats in Congress could do better in explaining to the American public that 80% of offshore reserves are already available for drilling. The media obviously is not going to pick up the facts on their own.

9. yes, we did. The public doesn't know that drilling offshore doesn't produce NEW oil for seven years.
So that's seven years they'd wait to see a slight ten-cent drop in the price of gas at the pump.

12. The Dems need to start running some well-crafted ads NOW..
we've go the money, we need to get the truth out. Just because McCain says he has a plan doesn't mean he does, and I strongly suspect he doesn't. Drilling for more oil here in this country has fuck-all to do with gas prices. We need to explain this to the American public as if they're a bunch of pre-schoolers.

13. I think the rethugs would disagree with you on that one.

The GOP'ers in the Senate just doubled down on the gas prices issue. They think it is a winner for them and they are betting on it by threatening to shut down the senate over it.

they would. What else would one expect? But come November, the public will note be determining their votes based on republican Senators nonsense.

11. We haven't lost on that.
Most thinking people know that no matter how much we drill the problem is going to keep coming back to haunt us. The only people that cling to the "drill our way out of this" meme are right wing morons.

15. Agreed. A clear majority of Americans wants to drill and the Dems haven't offered a clear and easy-
to-understand alternative. This is the only thing I am worried about this election year.

took office? WTF? If we can't make an issue out of that, then wtf can we make an issue out of?!

18. Mainly because oil prices have gone up worldwide
It's not just a USA issue. Besides, the numbskulls in power don't have the power
to set the price of oil...the entire corrupt oil corps have us by the shorthairs
and until an honest oil company lowers the price, they all will just keep raking in
the huge profits.

If Citgo were to sell their gasoline for 1.99 a gallon they could own the market and
our hearts and minds. They are just as greedy despite their compassionate rhetoric.

21. Idon't think we've lost the issue at all
Most everyone I know is still pissed off over high energy costs. And since I live in an area that has cold winters, they're also wondering how they'll afford to heat their homes this winter.
