. . .reading the headlines on DU and some of the media I was ready to rip my LIVE STRONG bracelet off but of course I wanted to verify first which led me to this:

-snip-
Armstrong’s foundation did not endorse McCain. The cyclist said he would also press Obama to talk about his plans and experience related to cancer issues.

2. Even if Armstrong endorsed McCain and campaigned for him, why would anyone hate him?
I swear to God, this place is going totally insane.

5. it was insane
a lot of nasty posts about his divorce and breakup with sheryl crow, and a general outlook that he was an asshole.

6. I don't hate him but he likely cheated during the Tour de France.
His sudden retirement may have been related to avoiding questions about illegal drug use during his race career. I believe that every other member of his former racing team has now been found to have used illegal substances.

Again, I don't hate him but he's not my hero either.

12. I hate to say it but you could be right. Blood packing. Save the red cells during
training and transfuse during the race.....

I don't think Armstrong used the drugs, though - he was the most frequently tested human being on the planet for performance enhancing drugs.

He was getting ready to take his wife to the hospital to have one of their kids and the drug police showed up and he had to pee into a cup before he could drive her to the hospital.

Did you know he had to let them know where he was going to be at all times, all year 'round??

10. He suddenly retired after winning the tour 7 times in a row.
at almost 36 IIRC, ancient for a cyclist in the Tour...

4. Armstrong usually has high-profile cancer survivors speak at his annual Livestrong conference
Edited on Fri Jul-25-08 08:54 AM by rox63
McCain definitely qualifies as that. Both John Kerry and Elizabeth Edwards have spoken at earlier Livestrong conferences. It has nothing to do with politics.

7. I take it back.
I was in a pissy mood. That and his ex was a sorority sister of my sister and she knew that the reality of the divorce wasn't as friendly as publicised.

8. Insider
I'm sure you really got an insiders look from your sister's sorority members who knew his ex.
