When John R. Bolton's the Only One Who Agrees with Your Iraq Strategy, You May Want to Rethink It
Edited on Sat Jul-26-08 11:27 AM by Walter Sobchak
Apparently, the New York Times could find no credible individuals to comment in support of McCain's Iraq strategy (not that anyone knows what it is anymore), so they dredged up the utterly batshit insane John Bolton.

Remember, this is the guy most famous for chasing a US Aid worker through a Russian hotel, throwing things at her and screaming obscenities. And, oh yeah, twisting US intelligence in efforts to start wars against Iraq, Iran, North Korea, and Cuba(?!).

Plus, he's got a ridiculous looking mustache.

Here's his quote:

“There’s no doubt, particularly as Bush has adopted policies in the direction of Obama, that that gives Obama bragging rights,” said John R. Bolton, the Bush administration’s former ambassador to the United Nations, who has sharply criticized the administration’s talks with Iran and North Korea. “But if you believe as I do that this administration is in the midst of an intellectual collapse, it doesn’t hurt McCain. Occasionally in politics it helps to be right.”

1. Valuable post, because it reminds us of how horrifying Bolton
really is, and might prompt us to work that much harder to elect Obama so that men like Bolton cannot be appointed to public positions in the foreseeable future.

3. Yep. When McCain's foreign policy supporters are people who were eventually deemed too crazy
for even the Bush administration, it's pretty scary thinking how the angry old man could hold the fate of the world in his hands.

Sounds to me like he thinks Obama is right and he says it grudgingly because he doesn't like diplomacy (sad thing to say about anyone that was a former UN Ambassador).

He simply says Obama being right doesn't hurt McCain.

4. But if you believe as I do that this administration is in the midst of an intellectual collapse...
...is he kidding?

Life in the bubble.

5. Yes, very strange, since the comment presupposes that at some point there was actually intellect
in the administration.
