designed to turn out GOP voters. Looks to me like Rove is still pretty much involved with the republican party and in fund raising activities and now actually working at Fox where the WH funnels their news. When are the Dems going to get this guy and put him behind bars.

----------------

Social and religious conservatives are placing an increasingly large wager on a strategy they believe may overcome their constituents' lack of enthusiasm for Sen. John McCain, giving him a competitive edge over Sen. Barack Obama even in states as deeply blue as California.

Essentially, the strategy is a reprise of one Karl Rove used to push George W. Bush to victory in 2004, when he helped place measures banning same-sex marriage on the ballot in 11 key states. The Republican incumbent carried them all as religious conservatives -- particularly evangelical Protestants -- flocked to the polls to support the initiatives. This time around, similar measures denying marriage to gay and lesbian couples will be on the ballot in California, Florida and Arizona.

The Family Research Council, which supports all three propositions, believes that McCain could win in California. "It's been a long time since California was in play for a Republican," said David Nammo, who directs the council's legislative efforts. In part, his optimism is based on a private survey in which 58% of all likely voters said they "would be more likely to support a presidential candidate" who favors banning same-sex marriage.

McCain supports the proposed amendment to the California Constitution forbidding same-sex marriage; Obama opposes it, as does Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

1. Uh, fail.
California will go blue no matter what and Arizona probably will go to McCain easily. Florida, though, is the one swing state here and Obama can still easily win the EC if he loses Florida.

Nice, try, though! haha

4. This is NOT to help McCain, but the GOP candidates for Congress
I know most California members of the House of Representatives are Democrats, but some are Republicans. This year some of those GOP districts are up for grabs. It is to get out the GOP vote in these Districts that these things are being done. In my opinion the GOP gave up on winning the Presidency this year even before the primaries, thus why McCain won, he has little chance of winning the Presidency but he can help the GOP win House and Senate Seats. The same with these Referendums and other issues, it is NOT to help McCain but GOP candidates for the House and Senate (and state races that are also occurring this year).

Now, McCain can still win the election, but it is a long shot round of the Dice, but that is NOT why he ended up as the GOP Candidate. McCain was looked at as the best Candidate to get the GOP vote out that would also vote GOP in local, State and other Federal offices. This fight is NOT looking like a fight for the White House (Through we have to make sure the vote does get out for Obama) but a fight over who should get the majority in the House and Senate AND various state legislatures, other State and local offices and any other position a GOP candidate has a chance to win.
