Running against Henry Hyde
http://www.cegelisforcongress.org/

Does anyone know whether Christine Cegelis has a chance against Hyde? I noticed that she is one of the candidates Dean is promoting on his Dean's Dozens.

1. I believe she jumped in
... two years ago at the last minute and had a decent showing. This year she's been building up steam since here defeat in 02 and is well financed. Hyde is actually spending money to defend himself.

At least that what I've heard. I hope Hyde goes down in flames he's a real scumbag.

2. According to Walt Starr

She has a pretty good chance of defeating Hyde. I'll let him blather away.. :)

Besides, IL GOP is in a huge disarray. Keyes will probably unknowingly suppress GOP support statewide.

3. Beating Hyde would be so sweet
Almost as good as seeing DeLay lose.

6. Are you working for her campaign?
What are you doing here? Get to her office and help her out. I met her, she's reall great, smart etc. Here campaign manager is a Terrific guy too. He's young and very enthusiastic. Tell him a Deaniac he met at the Take Back American conference sent you.

7. Giving people a choice is always best
I don't care if the person running
has never run before...a chance to
vote against Hyde is a good thing.

8. This Is A Seat To Grab in 2006
Word is Hyde will retire after the election...Bunnypants win or lose and this could open things up in that district.

The demographics of that district have changed over the past decade (despite moving more GOOPs into this district to protect the heavy Chicago districts to the east)...it's not the bastion of DuPage County Repugnicanism it once was.

The local party is fractured between the old guard of Pate Phillip and the Conservatives who have taken control of the party for now. There's also a growing Hispanic population and well as many Chicagoans moving out into the area.

There's no real "heir apparent" in this district and Hyde has seen his winning percentages go down over the last decade (he used to draw mid to high 60s). He'll probably finish with around 55 or less this time...and change is coming.

If you're interested in a race next door that is very winnable, I suggest you check out www.melissabean.com...she's running against Phil Crane in the 8th district...came close to knocking this corporate dead-weight out in 2002 and we're working hard to surprise a lot of people come November.

Cheers!
