Public Policy Polling (PPP) Michigan: Obama 46% (-2) McCain 43% (+4)
In June Obama held a 48-39 point lead in Michigan and it's now 46-43 according to PPP.

1. McWhine has been outspending Obama in Michigan for several months now.
But Obama's outspending McWhine by a LOT in Florida. Here's an interesting article that shows both sides on the attack:

It will be interesting to see who backs down first. Obama appears to be very seriously attacking in Florida, and it seems to be paying off.

It was do be expected. I'm not shaking in my boots but damn they are legion.

9. Big Media's Billion Dollar In Kind Contribution - Free Air Play
I would love Obama's ads to receive the same kind of scrutiny for accuracy given to McCain's ads. Why doesn't the media replay, for example, the new DNC ad challenging oil industry contributions to John McCain? Why don't they examine the DNC ad for accuracy and replay it 100's times?

Well, you know the answer, don't you?

8. Michigan is in a depression--a lot of people are angry and bitter..some irrational..
Edited on Wed Jul-30-08 12:48 PM by tokenlib
The layoffs in both the public and private sector continue. Hiring freezes are rampant. People can't get work. A lot of people here blame Governor Granholm (discussions can get heated)and use the "B" word profusely about her.

How this is all going to impact Obama and McCain is no longer obvious in my view. People get desperate, lose hope, and get irrational. Logic says Obama should win easily--but when the blame between Bush and Granholm is split in the polls--it means we have a problem. Some of the anti-Granholm sentiment is spilling over onto Obama--stupid as it may be.

The economic message is going to be critical here--and just promising the jobs of the future will not be enough.
