This is why I hate politics.
Edited on Thu Jul-31-08 01:29 PM by Drunken Irishman
McCain can claim Obama is using the race card and nothing will happen to that slimy, PTSD crazed fuck, but the second Obama accuses him of running a racist campaign, it'll be Obama's presidential ambitions that end and not McCain. How fucking pathetic is that?

Imagine if Obama had released a statement accusing McCain of being racist.

Goodbye Obama, hello Pres. McCain...but McCain gets away with it. Fucking bullshit.

1. It didn't work for Hillary..
and I see no reason why it will work for McCain. Oh wait, McCain is a rich white republican male.

2. I don't think it'll work, either, but it pisses me off.
How McCain can so easily say Obama is playing the race card and get away with it. However, if Obama tomorrow said McCain was racist, it would cripple is damn campaign.

3. Obama doesnt have to respond to those charges....
As they are insane and baseless. Plus it has the advantage of making Johnny look crazy. You worry too much mang. As a matter of fact, I am much more angry at Nancy Pelosi right now than I am with John McCain. I even defended her in a ltte about 2 years ago. Back when she had Moxy.

4. I know I'm going to regret posting this, but...
Obama said this BEFORE McCain made his statement. "Nobody thinks that Bush and McCain have a real answer to the challenges we face. So what they're going to try to do is make you scared of me," Obama said. "You know, 'He's not patriotic enough, he's got a funny name,' you know, 'He doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills.'"

I cannot read that last statement in any way that doesn't refer to race.

Obama can make mistakes. I know what he was saying here. He was predicting that his color would be used against him, along with his name. He wasn't accusing McCain of racism yet, just predicting that the Republicans will resort to it. He's right, but he's going to have to be smarter than that. He can't make the accusation before it happens, or he gives McCain a slow pitch to hit hard.

When the dusts settles, DUers will back Obama no matter what he's done, but the general public is going to award this round to McCain. I wouldn't worry much--there will be many more rounds, and McCain won't win many of them. But Obama needs to be careful. Right or wrong, a lot of white voters are overly-sensitive to being called racist, even when they are, and they will sympathize with McCain on this. Tactical error by Obama, is how I see it.

Again, I'm not accusing Obama of calling McCain a racist, and his statement was perfectly accurate. But it does give McCain the ability to respond as he did. He's not in Illinois anymore, and he won't be able to get McCain bumped off the ballot this time. He's got to be smarter than that.

And if the media does side with Obama on this one--cancel the election, because McCain has no chance.

8. Sorry to disappoint you, but the media is siding with Obama on this one.
Andrea Mitchell just carved Rick Davis a new cavity for spouting the party line about Obama's response to the ad--yes, I did say Andrea Mitchell. Video:

for claiming I'd be disappointed.
