Biden not just about Foreign Affairs
From Matt Littman at Huffington Post:

A side note: I keep reading that if Obama selects Joe Biden for VP, it would be because he seeks to run with an elder statesman with foreign policy credentials. But the reason to pick Senator Biden is not just because of his leadership on foreign policy -- it is also because of his leadership on women's issues, such as the ahead of it's time Violence Against Women Act that has saved countless families; crime, for which Senator Biden has written the legislation that put 100,000 more cops on the street in the '90's and saw crime dramatically reduced; his leadership on the Judiciary Committee; and his knowledge of how to get things done in Washington. When people say that Senator Biden has been in D.C. for too long, and that he'd muddle the change message, I say to them that the only way to make change is to get your legislation through Congress. Senator Biden has proven time and again to be ahead of his time on domestic issues, and he has shown he knows how to get things done in Washington. Those are fine reasons to select Senator Biden for VP.

2. Littman expressed it so well
It is how I feel but have been unable to put in words.

3. Plus he knows how to kick ass on the RW pundits and will
effectively "have Obama's back."

10. Amen! The dirtier this campaign gets, the more we need him ...
I'd LOVE to see Biden turn his gift of gab (and one-
liners) on Bomb Bomb, the same way he did on Ghouliani!

4. K & R

Thanks for posting this, as I might have otherwise missed it. Biden is an outstanding women's advocate. He understands the economy, too, and can be a very witty and amusing attack dog. He would be a real asset.

7. Biden's career is long and diverse
but he is rarely given credit for his many accomplishments. Can anyone here imagine Bork on the Supreme Court?

8. Good Call

A lot of people blame him for being "ineffectual" during the Clarence hearings - - but I've never understood what he was supposed to do. Those Nunn/Robb cowards were going to vote for the dissembler anyway; I thought Biden did a good job maintaining control of the hearings. Plus, since that time he's ben a supremely effective senator and is always a voice of calm and reason, even when he's attacking people - - and hilariously smiling while doing it.

Does anyone remember his appearance on TV on September 11? While Commander McChimpy was being shuttled around from Barksdale to Offutt, Biden appeared on one of the networks, was interviewed in a stand-up on Capitol Hill by the correspondent, and looked directly into the camera and reassured everyone. That was a hell of a performance.

9. I love seeing him in Senate hearings
especially when a wing-nut is in the hot seat. Like you said he can go after people with that big smile on his face which makes them sweat even more.

11. I missed that -- typical Biden ... just roll up your shirtsleeves and get things done
The guy is a workhouse, not a poser. Plus his personal
story (death of his first wife and daughter before he
even took his Senate seat) is compelling (gives me
chills now even thinking of the dedication it must
have taken to raise two sons and learn the ropes of
the Senate while grieving such a loss).

12. No, but I heard about it afterwards.
Biden was really frustrated that Congress and the WH didn't stay in DC that day to show the nation that everything was going to be okay. To show that we would remain strong inspite of what happened.

That is leadership, hiding in a bunker isn't.

16. I didn't see (or don't recall) Biden on TV after 9/11. Thanks for sharing that.
And you're so right about smiling when he's on the attack. He seems to be able to make it about the ISSUES, not personal, so the recipient doesn't feel personally attacked. I've said it before, that I've seen him just decimate Lindsay Graham's statements, and still have Lindsay grinning and wagging his tail like a puppy dog.

Others, too.

He has a gift.

5. And his relentless fight for the environment.
There is so much more to Biden than foreign policy. And he knows how to get it done.

Glad people are *finally* beginning to notice.

17. Through out his career Biden has carried the water for the credit card companies
They are all headquartered in Delaware. That would be too much baggage.
