Any Good Ideas for a "bumper sticker" response to the claim that "The Surge Is Working"?
I am sick and tired of watching Dem after Dem struggle with the same question for weeks now. Sen. Daschle trip over it on CNN's This Week In Politics.





I will make a suggestion just to get the ball rolling, but it won't be a very good one. We need some serious brainstorming on this one.


My Suggestion: Doing the wrong thing the right way is nothing to brag about, Iraq is the wrong war.


I am sure many of you can do better, please contribute. There is a small chance someone will read it and repeat it. If it catches on then maybe we can put this to bed before the Olympics start.

Political reconcilliation. no.

Decline in violence... not necessarily a direct result of the SURGE... Try ethnic cleansing, bribing warlords (appeasing terrorists), the so-called 'awakening' starting before the 'surge' started... The surge is a distraction from the reality in Iraq.

12. Not a bumper sticker , but here's a rationale
More money for Afghanistan=less money for winning the war on terror.

It probably won't play in Peoria but it's true. That's the deal.

However, I doubt it will work. The public has been sold on the surge as the temporary "bandaid" we needed to get some calm in Iraq and that's all they are looking at. Nuance doesn't work in this atmosphere, folks...

I'd say you got it right. It doesn't matter how well you plan or perform if the objective has no positive value. Invading another country that posed no threat is just throwing resources at something that provides no benefit.

Really, a sucker is born every minute. The American people are 90% suckers for believing this crap. Here are some other pointed questions that will wake your average American up:

Why did we NEED a Surge? (Because McBush fucked up Iraq)
What was the goal of the Surge? Did we Reach that Goal? And If it worked, Why can't the Troops Come Home?

Those are the questions you need to be asking people who say they think the Surge has worked. It will certainly shut them up.

They know Iraq was a huge mistake that cost us hundreds of billions and 4,000 American lives not to mention perhaps 30,000 injured. The fact that they never posed a threat to us is makes it clear we never should have been there. Everyone knows it was a huge debacle.
