3. Lieberman?
The Repubs have recently put Lindsey Graham and Jon Kyl up against JK, and both of them got their asses handed to them. Lieberman doesn't stand a chance against Sen. Kerry.

4. It's really a shame that George S. has been such a tool....
Because my favorite Sunday morning treat was always the roundtable. Now I feel guilty watching and giving him the ratings. :(

5. I had to turn the tv off in anger after Kerry said drilling on our shores...
...would be a compromise to help stop the gridlock in Washington. Pelosi has been compromising since she took over--look where it has gotten America: FISA / IRAQ...and now drilling.

Compromise? Bullshit. Will no one stand up for what is right?

6. That's not what Kerry said
Edited on Sun Aug-03-08 09:50 AM by karynnj
I completely edited my response. Now that it's on and you totally mischaracterized Kerry's comment. 1) he said he is against it and 2) he explained that Obama is for it ONLY if it is the only way to break the grid lock. The one who sold his soul there was Lieberman who was as pro-drilling as anyone. Kerry made the statement that the issue if "fraudulent" - just the same as he always did. Kerry actually did stand up for all the things he always did, but he explained Obama's position.

10. especially since Lieberman has always had a strong environmental
voting record, and as late as this year was portraying himself as an environmentalist. He's truly gone completely over to the Dark Side.

13. Agreed. The poster must have had wax in his/her ears. That is NOT what Kerry said.
Kerry was clear he is opposed to new offshore drilling, and that Obama is, too. However, if compromising on this issue is what is necessary to get a full energy policy passed, then he will consider it. But the Obama emphasis will be on alternative energy.

9. It would be a compromise, he is right. Now, did he say he liked it or did he just state a fact?
Edited on Sun Aug-03-08 09:16 AM by Mass
It is not yet on where I live, but, sadly, it is probably a fact. I do not like it, but, if the rest of the bill really does something to improve alternative energy, it may prove that the drilling will not be necessary. That is at least what I hope.

He said he was against drilling and did not say he was supporting the plan. He just explained Obama's reasoning.

12. Kerry is there for OBAMA and HIS POSITIONS. This is the CAMPAIGN he's representing
and he has to reply in a way consistent with Obama's position which happens to be a compromise one to get things passed. Once we have a veto proof senate, we will get far more we want than they will.

14. Senator Kerry's opinion is the entire discussion is fraudulent and misleading.
What he said, in defense of Senator IBM's slight change in position, was that Obama was willing to compromise if necessary and end gridlock if it was for a larger purpose- energy Independence.
