McCain on the stump, berates himself to get back to work.
McCain, upset that Congress has closed for August break, used his stump speech yesterday to berate himself to get back to work. He does know that he hasn't been around in months to cast a vote? And he does know that he is in Congress?

1. Don't know exactly what's going on with McCain, but he seems
notably out of it.

He's crabgrass to Obama's dazzling agapanthus. I've heard talk that "the Beltway media" love McCain because he's been such an accommodating, around-th-studio presence for so many years. It occurred to me that they can be chummy with him because he's so familiar and unthreatening, and that Obama is a far more mercurial variable -- someone who isn't going to let them get away with their bullshit.

Obama represents the challenge to the media of forcing them to actually do their jobs.

2. He switches between the message his handlers give him..
and his own. They seem to be out of sync, giving an appearance of him not knowing what the hell he's talking about from day to day. He always appears extremely uncomfortable, and so does Miss Cindy. She looks like she just wants to get the whole thing over with so she can go back to the country club. Neither one of them are feeling it.

I predict another staff meltdown before this thing is over.

3. My money's on your prediction.
A staff melt-down, with angry cursing and chairs thrown around a room.

Dishes smashed.

That sort of thing.

4. And what is it with Miss Cindy always hovering about his shoulder?
It like she is there to hold him up when he tilts to the side.

5. Having a beautiful woman at his side validates him...
that's how shallow he is. He figures if people see him with her, they'll be impressed and want to vote for him. Plus, she is there to hold him up when he tilts.

6. He said he would take a break
from the campaign trail to go back to the Senate.
But yeah, that was an odd statement. I think he did forget that he was still a Senator.

Hey Johnny, take a permanent break why don't you?
