2. The pledge should be replaced by reciting the preamble to the constitution...

"We the people...."

9. Why don't we just take the Schoolhouse Rock approach and make it a sing along?
Since so many people - even elected officials - seem to have no clue what the Constitution is anymore, let's give them a reminder that any 7 year old can understand....

4. Whenever two people greet one another in America, they should say the Pledge of Allegiance first.
Then they can continue with their business or conversation or whatever.

11. I voted with the majority, but I skip the "under God" so I can say
it more times than most folks.

12. as far as I know, America is the only western democracy with anything equivalent
And frankly most Europeans I have talked to find the whole business just a bit weird. Some even interpret it as something appropriate in authoritarian orders.

But, I don't have any big problem with it. It's just one of those peculiar americanisms like constantly saying, "have a nice day".

15. Hey, I recited it three times tonight!
First, at a meeting of the Mayor's Youth Advisory Committee.

Second, at a public comment session of the Board of Aldermen.

Third, at the regular Board of Aldermen meeting.

And if anyone asks, the board is 11-2 Democrat!
