Fluoridated water has changed the political discourse
In the 1960s "drill" was an uncomfortable term most emotionally associated with dentistry. Drilling was the second biggest phobia, between public speaking and flying.

"How do you feel about drilling?" Auuughhh!

But today, with everyone's teeth being so healthy, drill is just an active, masculine verb with a vulgar sexual subtext.

"Real men" drill everything they see. Right here. Right now.

(Maybe Obama should say he wants people to pound some air into those soft round tires with a big hose. Make those things know they're tires!)
