One thing I think is guaranteed, the Veep won't be a sitting Senator
We're all Senatored out since both of the presidential candidates are sitting Senators.

Nope, neither Veep will be a Senator. I'm Ivory Soap sure of that (99.44% pure).

1. In that case, I vote for Brian Schweitzer!
And also for Clark, although I fear he's been erased from Obama's 'list'.

8. I'm not so sure Clark's out of the running...
In fact, with all the theories abounding that a Clinton fake-out is imminent, this one would work too, what with the public 'denunciation' of Clark by Obama.

I think Clark is a better compliment to the areas where Obama needs more strength against McCain and his "war-hero" image...and he comes with much less vetting baggage than the Clintons.

19. Okay - so I vote for Clark OR Schweitzer. I hope you're right that he's still
in the mix (Clark). Don't know if Schweitzer ever was.

21. To hell with that...SCHWEITZER!
A popular (70% numbers) Democratic Governor of an up-until-now red state who's smart and would appeal to rural America (Obama's only soft demographic)...

...versus somebody who didn't make the cut in 2004...

I'm not picking on Clark, but I don't think somebody with an "L" in their column from four years ago will help the ticket.

22. I think either one would do well - and play well to the audience
we're trying to win over.

You may be right about the "L", but I think he could overcome that. Nixon.

I'd ideally like to see Schweitzer as VP, Biden as SOS, and Clark as whatever he could by law do until he's eligible for SOD.

4. That's who I'd put the big money on
I predicted to friends (documented in email) that Tim Kaine would be our next Veep on February 20.

None of my friends had a clue who he was, but I told them to mark my words, he would be Obama's pick for Veep and they would win.

15. But that would then leave VA in the hands of a rightwing nutjob lt. gov.
So if Obama picks Kaine and Kaine agrees, that is really screwing over VA and leaving a state struggling to turn blue back under the control of a redder than red governor.

A more frivolous issue is the "mark of Cane" one.

9. Veep Pick of the Day: Bart Stupak.
Congressman from Michigan.

It's all about winning Michigan this year.

Isn't it?

11. It's hard to predict with both Bayh and Biden in the running.
But I would hate to see either of those Senate seats go red... as we still need 9 seats for the 2/3 threshhold.

Do you think it will be a governor?

13. Hope you're right; two incumbent Senators on the same ticket seems risky as hell
My thanks to anyone who can tell me the last time that was actually tried.

16. An interesting fact about 1960
Henry Cabot Lodge (Nixon's Veep nominee) had been a Senator from Massachusetts until 1952 when he was defeated in his re-election bid by a Massachusetts Congressman named John Fitzgerald Kennedy.

Though I do feel that a Senator might get tapped for a Cabinet position.
