McCain Encouraging Supporters To Spam DU? Maybe. McCain Offers Prizes for Spam Comments
pread John McCain's official talking points around the Web -- and you could win valuable prizes!

That, in essence, is the McCain campaign's pitch to supporters to join its new online effort, one that combines the features of "AstroTurf" campaigning with the sort of customer-loyalty programs offered by airlines, hotel chains, restaurants and the occasional daily newspaper.

On McCain's Web site, visitors are invited to "Spread the Word" about the presumptive Republican nominee by sending campaign-supplied comments to blogs and Web sites under the visitor's screen name. The site offers sample comments ("John McCain has a comprehensive economic plan . . .") and a list of dozens of suggested destinations, conveniently broken down into "conservative," "liberal," "moderate" and "other" categories. Just cut and paste.

8. It's not money, it's cruel and unusual punishment - for us, anyway:
The points can be traded for prizes, such as books autographed by McCain, preferred seating at campaign events, even a ride with the candidate on his bus, known as the Straight Talk Express, according to campaign spokesman Brian Rogers.

I don't think many DUers are going to clamour to get those kind of 'prizes'.

5. OK then! I nominate Bornaginhooligan's list to be sent around:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x6596460

Can you please help me debunk this nasty e-mail?

Edited on Wed Aug-06-08 03:04 PM by Bornaginhooligan
I got this horrible e-mail in my in-box.

Any one of these items, if true, would mean that John McCain is unfit to be the leader of the free world. So I'm sure they're untrue.

So let's go through this list item by item, so we can forget this mess.

the e-mail reads:

John McCain once said: "Make it a hundred, that would be fine with me," with regards to how many years troops would be in Iraq.

John McCain was against making MLK Jr. Day a holiday.

John McCain once said, "Fuck you, I know more about this than anybody else in this room," to a senator, on the issue of immigration.

John McCain once proposed legislation to give immigrants a pathway to citizenship, then came out against it.

John McCain does not know the difference between Sunni and Shia.

John McCain once said "I will conduct a respectful debate. Now, it will be dispirited -- it will be spirited -- because there are stark differences. I am a proud conservative, liberal Republica-- conservative Republican...Hello?"

John McCain once said of illegal immigrants "We need to sit down as Americans and recognize these are God's children as well. And they need some protection under the law; they need some of our love and compassion," and then later joked about killing people with cancer.

John McCain asked for and was thankful for the endorsement of noted homophobes, anti-catholics, and anti-semites.

John McCain once said "I hated the gooks. I will hate them as long as I live."

John McCain is against pro-choice, but when asked said he'd help his young daughter find an abortion if she wanted one.

John McCain has done little to fight torture under the Bush administration, despite the time he was in a Vietnamese prison being tortured.

John McCain is in favor of offshore drilling, despite the time he was in an offshore prison getting... well you get the idea.

John McCain does not know how to use computers.

When asked how his VP search was going, he responded "Well, basically it's a Google."

John McCain says he doesn't understand the economy. Or care about social issues.

John McCain once joked about killing people with IEDs.

John McCain once said "Media industry leaders should voluntarily commit to reining in the toxic mix of sex and violence that has come to dominate so many media products which negatively affect our children today," before offering his wife to strip in front of a crowd and perform sexual acts with a banana.

Well, that's just a few items from this e-mail. There are plenty more where this came from, but I'm so sickened I can't post more right now.

Please e-mail this message to ten different people.

I'm sure if we all use things like Snopes and the Google together, we can thoroughly research these lies and put them to rest.

Thanks.

6. W E L C O M E T O E A R T H
Welcome, freeper. Let me take you to our Leader.

(also, it's so sad that they have to supply the words for their constituents -- I know they have ZERO respect for the suckers they dupe into putting them in office, but really....I'm sure some of them can a. use the internet and b. form a sentence, though the stuff I usually read from them is angry, illogical, scattered, and hysterical.)

NEW WORD: HYSTERIFREEPS.

Ahhh, that felt good.

9. McCain does have a comprehensive economic plan.
It comprehensively fleeces the middle class in favor of the rich.

12. Let's all thank Gramps for sending his disciples out for an education.
They're going to find out how much reality they've been missing.

My guess is, it will cost him far more losses in votes than he'll gain. They'll start reading, and if they can understand it all, they'll start learning.

That's assuming his followers can navigate the blogs and message boards, at all. If he can't, why should they?
