Does the fact that Wednesday's Bill Clinton speech mean that it's Hillary?
Edited on Thu Aug-07-08 09:42 PM by kimbo fleiss
The rumors have been persisting for about a week now that Hillary is getting a second look. Obama's image has taken a hit over the last two weeks after the "celebrity" bombs thrown by the McCain camp and their revolutionary guard. I hear its appearing in internal polls and they're concerned. Having Hillary on the ticket will add the only other active political leader in the Democratic Party who can attract huge crowds and media attention no matter the location and circumstance. On top of that-- she is married to the most popular living president who has also been proclaimed the Michael Jordan of the Hall of Politicians.

The Obama team could hold out on announcing until literally during Bill's speech which would could heralded a major historic event in the history of this nation by the media.

The absurdity of this event makes it possible.

Things that will get in the way:
The Clintons' comments about Obama during the primary.
Polling by the Obama team about an Obama/Clinton ticket and the effects of her negative favorablity ratings (which have gone down after the primary according to some pollsters.)

The only other major speaker on Wednesday of 2004's convention was Elizabeth Edwards.

1. I have no clue
As far as I can tell, each and every person who has been discussed has pros and cons.

I'll leave it up to Obama to decide.

4. interesting. wow, would Bill actually nominate her? wow
it would be strange- like half the people might think it was some kind of coup and they were
overthrowing he convention.

6. You don't think Obama could switch when Hillary speaks?
She wouldn't speak twice. Trust me if its part of their plans they can move around that obstacle easily.

9. they could. But wasn't the point of Hillary speaking on Tuesday to celebrate
the anniversary of women's suffrage? Plus, part of me just doesn't think Bill would speak before her, if she ended up being the VP (if that's the game plan)...I feel like they would want to assert Hillary as the new "star Clinton" of the Democratic party, etc, and give her a night of her own without the former president speaking before her. Supposedly, it may be Ted Kennedy on Monday, Hillary with possibly an intro by Chelsea on Tuesday, Bill and the VP on Wednesday, etc. But I've been wrong before. I just don't think it's going to happen. We'll know soon enough.

14. With All This Speaking And Intro's By The Clinton's The MSM And Repugs Will Say......
that the Clinton's stole the convention from Obama and make him look weak.

So Bill pouted and got a speaking spot.

5. Beats me?
I'm not going to speculate, because I really have no clue who Obama might pick. None whatsoever.

7. No, the fact that she is speaking Tuesday means it isn't her. That isn't the VP slot

This was my 32nd post... I've had an account for a couple months but I can't lurk around here all day during work (like it seems you do).

This is a great site that I enjoy in my spare time and I try to comment and post only when I feel like it, I don't reply to every post I read and mock new members.

Grow up.

I honestly hope you were just in a bad mood, if not you probably look like this:

16. No.
Obama is the presidential nominee. He's the boss. He doesn't want an equal partner as his running mate; he wants a loyal lieutenant. Attracting media attention and creating excitement is the presidential nominee's job, not the VP nominee's.

No matter what internal polls show (and I don't believe they show anything at this point), it's not going to be Clinton. After all that's happened, she's outgrown the second banana role.

McCain's campaign ads featuring Hillary's many detestable slams on Obama disqualify her from any consideration as VP. Add to that her lack of being qualified to be president, her shady associations and Bill's, there are simply too many reasons not to pick her.

She would alienate the very middle voters we need to win.
