Obama Statement on Georgia-Russia Conflict

Obama Statement on Georgia-Russia Conflict

Below is a Statement from Senator Obama on the Grave Situation in Georgia

“I strongly condemn the outbreak of violence in Georgia, and urge an immediate end to armed conflict. Now is the time for Georgia and Russia to show restraint, and to avoid an escalation to full scale war. Georgia’s territorial integrity must be respected. All sides should enter into direct talks on behalf of stability in Georgia, and the United States, the United Nations Security Council, and the international community should fully support a peaceful resolution to this crisis.”

2. It's too bad that it's the Bush admin still in charge.

I think that Obama would probably have had a better handle on things if he were already President as the affairs between Russia and Georgia have been threatening to escalate into full out war for at least a year. Although the Bush admin has been forced to be more diplomatic, their diplomacy isn't effective when they resort to diplomacy as a last resort and don't do enough diplomacy that tries to avoid any military conflict. If they'd tried to broker negotiations between them, this probably might have been averted.

7. I heaar McCain also released a strongly worded statement
On the Russia-Georgia conflict, where he condemns Russia for invading our country. He stated unequivocally, that should they advance on Atlanta, "All options are on the table".
