I hope she keeps her speaking slot. If so, it will be an amazing moment for sure...

According to people close to the Edwardses, Elizabeth Edwards has secured a primetime speaking role at the Democratic National Convention...

1. I finally found some support outside of my OP...

People seem really upset at the suggestion that her speaking at the convention *might* be a good idea.

Thanks for taking the time to consider it.

2. What John did is not a reflection on Elizabeth.
Few people understand the health care situation in America better than Elizabeth Edwards. Even though she was financially able to procure the best medical treatment for herself, she has made it her mission to do something to help those who can't afford health care.

I admire Elizabeth Edwards. She is a smart woman, and regardless of her husband's bad decisions, she has a lot to offer America. I hope she keeps her speaking engagement at the convention. I'd love to hear what she has to say.

3. Elizabeth knew about the affair in 2006... That changes things...

She took her kids on the road and presented her husband as a family man, knowing about his deception.

I think that tends to make her a part of the deception and compromises her ability to speak entirely as a victim of his unfaithful behavior.

4. I'm not sure - the press would be focusing on the "situation", not her message. nt
