Will Ferrell on Paris' McCain smackdown: "She nailed you"
The Hill

Popular comedian Will Ferrell, who famously portrayed President Bush in 2000 on “Saturday Night Live,” called Paris Hilton’s response to Sen. John McCain a “smack-down” of the Republican presidential candidate.

Hilton offered her own energy plan and referred to the Arizona senator as an old and wrinkled man in a video posted on the FunnyOrDie.com website launched by Ferrell and others last year. McCain responded to the parody by highlighting Hilton’s agreement with his “all of the above” energy policy.

“I love this video,” a post attributed to Ferrell reads. “And I love that it's clearly a smackdown of McCain, but he tried to release some statement saying Paris agrees with his energy policy. That is incredibly feeble. You mentioned Paris in an ad which was cheap and then she nailed you.”

Ferrell rose to fame with his impersonation of Bush, who stumbled over words such as “strategery.”

Hilton and the FunnyOrDie team recorded the response after the McCain campaign featured the famous hotel heiress in an ad mocking Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama's (D-Ill.) "celebrity" and questioning his readiness to be president.

As of Friday afternoon, the Hilton video had been viewed on FunnyOrDie almost 6 million times.

1. Haha! A comedian brought in to slam McCain's response to Paris' ad!
Let the celebrities fight amongs themselves, while Obama takes his vacation. LOL!

2. I hate all involved for dragging Paris into the political spotlight and giving a boost to her
sputtering "career." Just a couple of weeks ago it popped in my head that the Paris hysteria had really died down and it seemed like we were mostly rid of her. And now she's back, bigger than ever. Ugh.

4. She had a perfect right to respond.

And she did it in a manner that was engaging and funny, and she landed a roundhouse on McCain with the 'wrinkly white haired old dude' line.

What's not to like?

- as

PS: I don't think there was much 'dragging into the spotlight' to be done. Paris looked like she did it willingly and had fun doing it.

6. What do you care?
How does it hurt you if she makes money off her image, such as it is?

7. oh, thank gods for the goggle
the ad was written by Adam McKay (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_McKay) - no wonder the humor seems so ferrell-esque...
