Picking a Fight With Russia: Very Presidential
Things seem to have gone very wrong in Georgia and South Ossetia. It doesn't really look like anybody has a very clear idea of what is going on. As a presidential candidate you have two choices:

A. Take a cautious approach and call for the cession of violence on all sides

B. Pick a fight with the world's second largest nuclear power by blaming them without taking the time to figure out what is going on.

Obama chooses A.

"I strongly condemn the outbreak of violence in Georgia, and urge an immediate end to armed conflict...Now is the time for Georgia and Russia to show restraint, and to avoid an escalation to full-scale war. Georgia's territorial integrity must be respected."

McCain chooses B.

Today news reports indicate that Russian military forces crossed an internationally-recognized border into the sovereign territory of Georgia. Russia should immediately and unconditionally cease its military operations and withdraw all forces from sovereign Georgian territory. What is most critical now is to avoid further confrontation between Russian and Georgian military forces.

1. McGaffe will always choose a confrontation. We can plan on it happening every time...
Now we need the ~10% undecided voters to figure it out

4. What bothers me is candidate McCain's ultimatum
I like the fact that Obama made a strong condemnation of armed conflict, but pulled up short of making demands. McCain popped off as though he were already president, creating tensions that could interfere with attempts to find a quick and peaceful solution to this. Obama remembered that he was just a candidate, yet he still managed to show the world that if he becomes president he has the wisdom and gravity to handle it. McCain showed the world that he would sound about like the current failed administration. Arrogant, driven by emotions, and unable to speak beyond platitudes learned from John Wayne.

8. Sounds pretty PRESUMPTUOUS of McCrank, doesn't it?
Why, he's acting like he's already the president. I'm sure the intrepid media will be on hand to take him down a few pegs, huh?

9. Oh, no doubt.
 I'm sure they are writing the commentary now. Only it will come out more like "Our Lord and Master John McCain showed bold and decisive leadership today, while that pansy celebrity Obama seemed even more naive than normal, if you can believe that."

But the sentiment will be there, right?
