During TV Interview, Edwards cites McCain's adulterous past
On adultery, Edwards cites McCain

The full version of Bob Woodruff's interview with John Edwards just aired on ABC, figuring Edwards alternately penitent, defensive, and dismissive of the tabloid reports that unearthed his affair.

He also, in explaining his view that his dalliance could remain private, cited Republican John McCain's reported affair at the end of his first marriage almost three decades ago.

"What I was thining was this was something that was personal to my own family," Edwards said, citing other public figures having survived extramarital affairs. He recalled, he said, having heard "John McCain talk about the mistakes that he’s made in his past with respect to his first marriage."

"I’m not the first person to do this," he said.

Edwards also heatedly denied that he's the father of Rielle Hunter's daughter, and explained his visit to see her in a Los Angeles hotel.

"I was there for a very simple reason – because I was trying to keep this mistake that I had made from becoming public," he said. "The bottom line was said the purpose of the meeting was that she was having some trouble she just wanted to talk."

"Nothing was resolved – I didn’t talk to them about paying money or anything like that," he said.

He also distanced himself from a photograph that the National Enquirer said showed him holding Hunter's baby.

"I have absolutely no idea what that picture is," he said. "I have no idea who that baby is."

"Do you know how mnay pictures have been taken of me holding children in the last three years?" he asked Woodruff. "It happens all the time."

2. McCain was unfaithful to his wife
It's a proven fact. Yet the media won't tell you that in the reports about Edwards. Shame on the press.

10. Tough stuff. This will take a long time to die down, serving as a lasting reminder of McCain's
infidelities and raising more questions about his fidelity with regard to Cindy.

11. way to make it work for us, JE!
WOW it couldn't be a better use of a tragedy. msm doesn't want to cover mccain's past? well, looks like JE is gonna make them. i they want to talk to him, he's gonna talk about mccain. they'll say he's being a baby, but who cares? as long as it gets into the psyche of every american out there, it's awesome.

way to redeem this situation and well played. I say that with all due respect to the family. bad situation but good use of it.

They had SO hoped they'd be able to use this against Obama. Good on John for putting them on notice.
