McCains stategy fails when Obama gives DNC speech
McCain's whole strategy seems to be to tell people that Obama is not ready to lead. He is an empty "celebrity".
So the campaign becomes about people's questions about Obama.
Well that will cause an enormous viewership for his stadium convention speech as people want to see for themselves who this man is. And people will see a charismatic, intelligent leader, ready to take on the problems this country faces.
Now, this is just speculation/wishful thing on my part, but it isn't a guess of blind whimsy.
Remember when we saw the tape of Clinton's Grand Jury testimony. The Repukes said we would see an angry, unhinged man. Instead we saw a man responding to a witch hunt. And the vast majority of the American people supported him. His poll numbers went up after that.
I see the same thing at work with Obama. McCain and the Repugs thought if they could goad him to go overseas, his lack of experience would show. Instead he was greeted as America's last hope and the Repigs are now left try and attack the success he had.
Wait for that speech.

2. I agree. Everytime I hear Obama speak (with the exception of a few
of the democratic primary debates that were dreadful all around) he impresses me again.

It is refreshing to hear someone intelligent speak about leading the country.

4. I am confident that Obama himself will just smack that strategy down.
But I am a bit worried that overhyping Obama's oratorical skills for the DNC makes it easy to disappoint. I mean, he has some mad writing skills but man, he has set himself a really high bar.

6. I know but it's almost unbelievable how consistently Obama delivers with his speeches.

I mostly can't wait to see how much better his speech is but sometimes, a small part of me sometimes thinks that he can't possibly best his current best, y'know what I mean? Plus, I don't want to attribute inhuman qualities to Obama. He's still human.

7. The first debate will be important. Not that the speech won't be but I can already see the ad with
Hillary saying "Enough with the big speeches and the big rallies....."

The debates will define the candidates far more than the conventions will.
