And actually....he is from Hawaii.

And I am fairly sure that the former president of the Harvard Law Review doesn't use aight in official campaign communications.

11. It's obviously a fake. "Russ Feingold" is spelled wrong.

13. LOL
Unfortunately Russ has ruled that out at this time. But wouldn't he be incredible? I don't know if I'm willing to give him up as my Senator yet so I'm glad he's holding off on a national office.

14. When did Russ rule out being chosen as VP?
Many DUers repeat this claim and I have yet to find a single article where he gave a Shermanesque statement about being chosen as VP.

15. I wasn't present at his Waukesha listening session
Edited on Mon Aug-11-08 02:40 AM by Connonym
but a couple other DUers were there and he indicated that it wasn't going to happen. This was a listening session from a month or two ago.

Ok, I found the actual text and he didn't give an ABSOLUTE no but pretty much said no

"whoisalhedges asked him if he'd accept the VP spot if offered. His reply was cute. He said that the question is a bit of a setup. If he said yes, the press could run with it and say, "Feingold said he wants VP spot, press conference held in Genesee, WI". He said that he's open to doing what Obama would want him to do, but he assured us that Obama would NOT be making that call. Earlier he spoke about how he caught a lot of flack for publically disagreeing with Obama regarding the FISA bill. He said he'd been pretty much asked to shut up... but couldn't."

16. Even from the DUers who were there,
The closest thing I got to a Shermanesque denial I got was a statement similar to yours, that he (Feingold) doesn't think it's going to happen.

Not even close to Shermanesque IMHO, and these days I wouldn't even take a Sherman statement at face value.

Even Obama made a Sherman statement in '06 saying he definitely would not run for president this year. Times change and people change their minds.

18. True, it's not an absolute denial
but I really doubt it's going to happen for a variety of reasons -- he's been pretty persistent in saying that he thinks he can do more in Congress. And I don't want to spread gossip but Russ (now twice divorced) is known to be a fan of the ladies. That might not go over so well right now

19. Obama's highly intelligent and Feingold would be an outside-the-box pick for him.
I used to think Feingold as VP was just a dream, but now I'm thinking it could actually happen.

"he's been pretty persistent in saying that he thinks he can do more in Congress."

I love Feingold and what he's been doing.

But with the current spineless leadership thwarting him at every turn, there's little Feingold can actually get done right now. It's not his fault, it's the fault of Reid and a few others.

He may think this is true, but if Obama called on him to serve his country as VP, I doubt he'd turn it down.

"And I don't want to spread gossip but Russ (now twice divorced) is known to be a fan of the ladies. That might not go over so well right now"

1. I have seen no indication that this gossip is true.

2. Even if it's true, at least he had the decency to get a divorce, and not, say, cheat on his wife while she recovered from cancer (Edwards) or a car accident (McCain).

3. Bringing up extramarital affairs, or even hinting at womanizing, does not help John McCain in the slightest, between his affairs with both Cindy Hensley (now Cindy McCain) and Vicki Iseman.
