AFL-CIO hits McCain on DHL deal

Driving home Obama's attacks on McCain's involvement in the sale of an Ohio DHL plant, the AFL-CIO is sending the above mailer to what a union official described as 100,000 "union swing voters" in Ohio -- that is, Reagan Democrats.

The mailing (front, back) attacks McCain, and his campaign manager Rick Davis, for working to make the sale go through.

An accompanying email campaign reads, in part:

"McCain had a choice then, and he has a choice now. Will McCain fight for Ohio's workers or keep his lobbyist buddy Rick Davis, who made over $570,000 from this deal, as his campaign manager?

"We need you to call or email McCain's Ohio campaign office today and ask them to make this choice. You can reach McCain's Ohio Headquarters by phone at: 1-614-441-8097 or by email here: ohio@johnmccain.com."

6. Glad to see the unions sinking their teeth into this.
McBush has some serious explaining to do.

7. Anybody know how the AFL-CIO weighed in when DHL was buying Airborne?
I've been to the Airborne sort facility in Wilmington for a tour when my former company built a video duplication company in the commercial building adjacent to it (since purchased and closed as well). In fact I was considering moving there in 1994 and am thankful I decided against it.

The whole town revolves around that hub! This will lose more jobs than just the DHL employees and it will affect home prices in an already horrible housing market.

I am curious if the union weighed in back in 2003-2004 when this was happening.
