McCain's strength has always been a macho appeal to the might makes right crowd. Could seeing him being bested by a fly-weight like Paris Hilton have destroyed the underlying reason for the majority of his support? And could using code words for "old" combined with highlighting the sheer foolishness of comparing Obama's readiness to lead with hers have succeeded in giving people the heebie-jeebies about possible senility?

40% of the voters in our country will vote "R" even if their candidate
is a jellyfish from the Great Barrier Reef. Paris Hilton was great for
a laugh, but the wrinkly white-haired guy won't lose any votes because
she was "hot," even if she was right.
