Not a conspiracy guy, but convince me Clinton is not angling against Obama...
Edited on Mon Aug-11-08 01:29 PM by Sulawesi
In addition to the latest from Bob Kerry about how McCain can deal with crisis, there is the earlier article today, 7 worrisome signs from Obama. It was the 7 worrisome signs piece that made me think, for the first time, that the Clinton camp wants Obama to lose. Look at where all the negatives come from...

"Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton has been privately enumerating her doubts about Obama to supporters, according to people who have spoken with her."

"Clinton’s pollster Mark Penn recently unveiled a PowerPoint presentation red-flagging Obama’s lukewarm leads among white female voters and Hispanics – while predicting a five-point swing could turn a presumed Obama win into a McCain landslide."

"“The idea that Obama was going to win in a blowout was always preposterous,” says former Nebraska senator and onetime presidential hopeful Bob Kerrey, an Obama backer." Bob Kerrey, an Obama backer?

"“Obama wins on the economy,” said Guy Cecil, Hillary Clinton’s field director during the primaries. “But it will be interesting to see if McCain’s able to close the economic gap.”"

"Adds Bob Kerrey: “The country's still pretty divided … people may want a divided government. They want change, but I'm not sure that the Democratic agenda has the support of a majority of Americans.”"

I am not a Clinton hater, or a conspiracy theorist, but jeez!

3. All I know is that the dems need to get their act together. Can't have
Bob Kerrey and Russ Feingold saying stupid stuff like they have lately.

I don't think it's anything to do with Hillary. I think that we dems just have a hard time staying on message.

7. This is partly why Dems are so good at taking defeat from the jaws of victory
Edited on Mon Aug-11-08 01:41 PM by CakeGrrl
For all the chest-puffing that Democrats are not "lockstep", it's the lack of unity via a consistent message, ironically, that allows media to paint Democrats as infighters or in disarray.

Don't do the hand-wringing into a media microphone.

Like each other or not, the Repubs do a better job of getting behind a candidate, at least in terms of the perception that they present to the media.

And Clinton supporters may not like it, but Hillary's former(?) staffers and surrogates are out there making very current "what if" comments, keeping the primaries fresh in everyone's minds. To what constructive end?

9. How about we convince you that Clinton didn't invent Cancer,
incontinence, and paper cuts while eating babies three at a time.

It would be just as useful a discussion and maybe a little less asinine.

14. Lets consider that when
Hillary Clinton, Mark Penn, Bob Kerrey and Guy Cecil send some talking points around on any of these. For now, they are just talking about Obama's weaknesses.

I do not seriously buy into any conspiracy, but I am also convinced these people are not over the loss and are not really on board.

In particular, citing Bob Kerrey as an Obama supporter is too much, but I suppose that is the author's fault.

13. It is not a theory. I am frustrated to read an article that has
Hillary Clinton expressing doubts behind the scenes "to her supporters" (I thought the primaries were over), mark Penn preparing power-points on Obama's weaknesses, Bob Kerry giving props to McCain and Guy Cecil saying it will be "interesting to see if Obama can close the gap .

I find that terribly frustrating.

11. No
it is only Clinton's fault insofar as she had hired jackasses like Howard Wolfson and Mark Penn. However now that the campaign is over I hardly hold her accountable for the fact that they are still jackasses. Kerrey I have always considered a Jackass.

12. So this guy Bob Kerrey is supposed to be a Democrat?
"They want change, but I'm not sure that the Democratic agenda has the support of a majority of Americans." :wtf:

Wasn't he the asshole who kept saying "Barack Hussein Obama?"

I'll admit it, I am a Bob Kerrey hater. :grr:

ever being popular in the AA community again if he deliberately tries to destroy Obama. If that happens he will go down with Obama.

22. Some Of Hillary's Allies May Be Throwing Her and Obama Under The Bus
Edited on Mon Aug-11-08 02:55 PM by Median Democrat
The upcoming Atlantic Story, for example, which is based on heaviling on internal Hillary memos portrays her as incompetent for refusing to follow Mark Penn's advice:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=6618814&mesg_id=6618814

My take is that there is no way Hillary encouraged the release of memos that make Mark Penn look right, and her incompetent.

I mean, there's a lot of talk about unity, but IMO the party is more disunited than I personally ever seen it.

29. You didn't see this before?
There is no question in my mind that Billary are praying for McBullshit to win. She is outraged that the democratic process "stole" something that was "rightfully hers".

The Clintons have shown their true colors, and they don't match that of the democratic party. It breaks my heart, but that's just the way it is. I've lost all respect for them.
