Tonight - Its Bash The Democrats Night On Cable News! Big Media Divides and Conquers!
Edited on Mon Aug-11-08 10:27 PM by Median Democrat
I happened to skim both Fox News and CNN tonight. They were remarkably coordinated this evening.

The main story, of course, is John Edwards' affair. Of course, with all the talk of affairs, and comparisons to the 10 year old exploits of Bill Clinton, they never once manage to mention John McCain's history of womanizing. It is an amazing trick ignoring the infidelity of an actual presidential candidate. FNC added the angle of whether John Edwards should be prosecuted for campaign finance violations.

Then, on CNN, a segment where alleged Hillary supporters blame John Edwards for costing her the Democratic nomination for failing to admit to his affair earlier.

Then, a story on Hillary supporters disrupting the convention with cable news asking what it will take to satisfy her 18 million voters.

I have to ask, do any of us feel the slightly bit manipulated by Big Media? I mean after listening to the news, I half expect all of us to throw down in a giant mosh pit between Edwards, Clinton and Obama supporters, with John McCain emerging as the voice of reason and moral integrity.

1. If the people who get on the media (our Dem. politicians) will not fight for us, what CAN we do?
Frankly, I see none of the current "strategies" working.

3. False Assumption - There Is No Magic Strategy That Will Get Big Media On Our Side
Edited on Mon Aug-11-08 10:51 PM by Median Democrat
There is no a magical strategy that will cause the corporate media to ignore their economic self-interest, and portray the Democrats on equal terms as the Republicans. It is not an accident that John McCain's attack ads receive hours of free air play in what amounts to an in-kind contribution. It is not an accident that Big Media strains to avoid mentioning John McCain's own history of infidelity.

As noted in this link, what is one very big issue that Obama has been outspoken on, but Big Media has ignored? Yup, its the growth of Big Media, and his efforts to protect and independent media by opposing the relaxation of rules on media consolidation:

Why Obama Must Win - Why Disney (ABC) and News Corp (Fox) Ultimately Will Stop Him - Media Diversity

Now, how big is the problem? Well, media ownership has become more concentrated than ever before, so if you thought media was biased during the Bill Clinton years, it is much worse now:

Thus, most media controlled by only 5 companies. These companies control what you see and hear, thus they control what most Americans think.

2. "Any" of us "slightly" manipulated? Understatement of the year so far!
From what I've seen, this is simply the pattern and behavior that has been ongoing and getting worse since * took office.

4. "do any of us feel the slightly bit manipulated by Big Media?" Have I got a film for you!
Media is controlled by corrupt corporations. PLEASE take the time to watch this 6-part series entitled "Happiness Machines." If you don't come away sickened to your stomach, I will be surprised. We, as a nation, have been duped for generations! How I would love for these films to be required viewing for young, impressionable youth!

5. Last Night Was Horrible - Why All The Constant References To Bill Clinton's Affair?
Is Hillary the nominee? Is Bill the nominee? Is it because Bill and John have a sexy southern drawl?

CNN was terrible last night in that there was very little mention of John McCain's affair, with Democrats being cut-off, and GOP types able to slip in strange qualifiers like, "If an affair happened 30 years ago, then I could forgive it." Gee, who's affair are you referring to?

You would think that if old affairs are off limits, then Bill Clinton's affair should also be off limits, particularly since Bill is not running for squat. Yet, in the MSM, it is okay to tee off on the Democrats, but taboo to raise the exploits of Republicans. For example, on Larry King last night, when the question was whether John Edwards had a political future, they went around the table, but left out or editted out the woman from HuffPo who had raised McCain's affair, because I am sure she would have said, "Hey, look at John McCain! He's freakin running for President, so of course John Edwards has a political future."

6. odd how the Edwards affair dishonors and disqualifies him--yet McCain gets a free ride
Kelly O'Donnell and the other Media skanks know that they have to earn that seat on the Free Ride bus and plane.
