McCain Can Not Break 44%

Since Obama won the nomination, McCain has been unable to hit 45%.

I love how the media focuses on saying Obama can't break 49%... they keep saying he has a big problem if he can't get greater than 50%. However, they neglect to look at McCain who is doing far worse. They also forget this isn't just a 2-person race and it's unlikely Obama will break 50%... he'll probably be within 1% of 50 either way, while McCain will be somewhere between 48 and 49%.

All this is moot. Presidents do not win based on popular vote. It's the electoral votes that matter.

1. do these polls take Bob Barr into account?
When the time comes to vote, I have a feeling you're going to see McCain's numbers drop 5-7% as Barr filters off otes. If McCain isn't beating Obama by 5% in a state, there's a decent chance, imho, it'll go for Obama on Election day.

4. They ask for Other, Neither or No Opinion in addition to Obama and McCain
If they asked for specific names, I'm sure it would be different.

Right now Other gets 1% and Neither gets 4%. 6% are not expressing an opinion.

9. I agree
It also forces the media not to divert with stuff about Obama as much.

5. I will be skeptical until I see 50%+
This poll leaves 11% unspoken for. That 11% has to vote for someone.

I recall being quite optimistic at this point about Gore and Kerry the last two times.

7. This is all MSM misinformation
When 3rd Party candidates are included, Obama's lead is greater.

10. I have been screaming this about McSame ever since he "clinched" the nomination
McSame was the *best* that the Repukes could do and that's very sad. Why aren't isn't the M$M asking why McSame--the one who supposedly has all of this experience and is "ready to lead"--can't seem to break 44% or 45%, even with the terrible, negative attack ads. I think it's quite sad.

12. RCP lists 35 National Poll Results Since 5/25/2008
Senator Obama led in 34 of those polls and is currently ahead by an average of 4.8%.
