I know that sounds dumb... but a LOT of people just don't turn on the TV that day and forget. Clinton did that with cell phones in NC. I think it is a good stragtegy!

He can also update people on his appearances in their area, and about major issues from his campaign.

He can help find potential volunteers who are obviously interested enough in the race to give him their cell numbers in exchage for information... and he can get those potential volunteers to become volunteers.

This was a VERY smart and clever move on Obama's part. I love it!

I've got software on my phone that sends calls directly to voice mail if they don't provide caller ID info. I have no land line, so my cell phone is my home phone, too, and it gets a lot of calls I just don't want. As I've got a monthly contribution to the campaign established I really don't need to talk to the Obama campaign callers. I suppose I could have fun with McCain callers (they assume the anyone in area code 307 must be a McCain supporter), but even that takes more time than I care to devote to it.

OTOH, if Barack want's to email me his phone number so I can put it into the whitelist on the phone (now there's an oxymoron), then I guess I'd be glad to take his calls ;-) .

It's the same day as Bill Clinton's.
