Rasmussen, 8/15: Obama 44%, McCain 41%
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/daily_presidential_tracking_poll

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows Barack Obama attracting 44% of the vote while John McCain earns 41%. When "leaners" are included, it’s Obama 47% and McCain 45% (see recent daily results). Tracking Polls are released at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time each day.

Despite the Russian invasion of Georgia, daily tracking data shows no shift in voter priorities for Election 2008. Forty-one percent (41%) say economic issues are most important while just 22% name national security issues as the top priority (See Daily Snapshot).

-snip-

Obama is now viewed favorably by 55% of the nation’s voters, McCain by 54% (see trends). Other key stats of Election 2008 are updated daily at Obama-McCain: By the Numbers.

-snip-

This is good news -- more of a lead for Obama. And it's good to see Obama's favorability rating higher than McCain's again.

1. It also shows that the Russia-Georgian conflict isn't helping McCain.

2. I can only assume or hope that the American people are not yet
engaged in the campaign; if people are, just how could 54% still feel favorable towards the war-mongering John McCain? I know---MSM. How can we counter them and the voting machines in order to save our country?

3. I don't like the way this is going
take a look here: http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2008/Pres/Maps/Aug15.html

Obama is at his lowest level that I can remember. McCain is picking up ground, slowly, but he is gaining. What once looked like a possible easy victory now is beginning to look like a toss up. Something has to be done to turn this trend around, otherwise we're not going to like the final outcome.

5. The complacency around here is worrying...

Today's Rasmussen tracker shows 57% of leaners going for McCain. My EV tally is up from earlier this week, ironically on Rasmussen's Colorado numbers. While the Colorado poll revealed that McCain was leading slightly, it also showed more undecideds moving for Obama, which brought up the poll average. Current tally is O: 259, M: 279, improved from 250 to 288. I had Obama up anywhere from 310 to 322 before last Friday; what has changed is that state numbers have narrowed enough that undecideds are determining the outcome.

4. BO HAS to keep ...
going after McCain in his advertising ...

BO has had a steady drop in his national numbers for a month now, and the state numbers are starting to follow ...

He had a bit of a spike in the week after the overseas trip, but when McCain started with all his crazy attack ads, it DID pull down a good amount ...

Seems to me that the current drop for McCain/increase for BO come as he has started to go after McCain in advertising ...

It doesn't have to be outright lies or bizarre nonsense like McCain's attacks ...

But, they HAVE to

1) Keep trotting out clips of McCain saying stuff for himself - on the economy, on SS ... whatever ...
2) Continue to use the visuals of him with Bush ... That pic of McCain doing the PATHETIC hug with a childlike grin on his face with the Disaster in Chief leering over him into the crowd should be included in EVERY ad BO runs from now until November ...
