http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/17200791/detail.htmlDENVER -- On Aug. 28, The Colorado Department of Transportation will close a 5.5-mile portion of Interstate 25 through Denver for a Democratic National Convention event at Invesco Field. Alternate routes are recommended and motorists will still be able to access downtown Denver.
Sen. Barack Obama will make his acceptance speech at Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium Thursday evening, and I-25 runs next to the stadium.
"I-25 will be closed for just a short period of time but it’s necessary to ensure a safe event for attendees," said CDOT Executive Director Russ George. "While we recognize that motorists traveling through the area will likely experience some delay, we are doing everything possible to keep those delays to a minimum."
In order to safely and efficiently move traffic during this time period, I-25 will be closed from the interchange with I-70 to the interchange with 6th Avenue starting at approximately 5:30 p.m. The highway will remain closed until conclusion of the event.
There are numerous ways for motorists to pass through the city and also to get in and out of downtown:

I'm glad they're doing this.
