Waxman calls on McCain to give back Reed's money
Majikthise
By Lindsay Beyerstein, freelance journalist.

Henry Waxman joined a media conference call this morning to recap the connections between Ralph Reed and Jack Abramoff. I was on the call. What follows is my summary and analysis.

............................

The call was convened because Ralph Reed is set to hold a fundraiser for John McCain on Monday, which McCain plans to attend.

Waxman is calling on McCain to cancel the event and give back all Reed's money.

In his prepared statement, Waxman went over the highlights of the vast email record that links Reed to Abramoff as "conspirators in a money laundering scheme."

The Chairman's message was clear: Reed wasn't just some hapless subcontractor who got paid with Abramoff's dirty money, he was an integral partner a scheme to bilk Indian tribes out of millions of dollars.

1. I'm the guy who is still wishing that Waxman become the Attorney General.
No one is more qualified than Henry Waxman. No one.

3. Ralph Reed is turning into a living example of the Story of Dorian Gray
Cute, boy-scoutishly handsome when he was younger and easily inspiring confidence among all around him; and the older he gets, the more the blemishes and hideous deformations of his corrupt character present themselves. No one wants to touch him. He's "nukular" ugly.

$520 loafers, unlimited credit and a net worth in the millions too. So why shouldn't those two party together? What's a little money laundering among friends?

We're supposed to have forgotten about Abramoff. The corporate media have dutifully avoided talking about it although every supporter of Obama's, no matter how far in the past, has been scrutinized at great length.

6. Not to mention illegal funding of the Alabama 2002 Riley campaign.
"he was an integral partner a scheme" with Rove and Abramoff in Alabama too,
and McCain helped cover-up this illegality prior to the 2004 election, salvaging Bush!!

And, in 2002, when Riley lost anyway, they just stole the election (then jailed Don Siegelman).
