Tim Kaine fires back at Karl Rove
It was a tough retort from Gov. Tim Kaine, a Democrat from Virginia.

Kaine responded Sunday to comments made by Republican strategist Karl Rove earlier this month criticizing Kaine's potential vice presidential credentials.

On CBS' "Face the Nation," Rove jabbed at the governor, saying "again no disrespect to Gov. Kaine. He's been a governor for three years. He's been able but undistinguished. I don't think people could really name a big, important thing that he's done."

The Democratic governor — who is rumored to be on Barack Obama's potential VP list — pointed out that his state was voted best for business three years in a row by Forbes.com and said "maybe Karl Roves and the Republicans don't care about business climate, that would explain why we're in the situation that we're in".

"Governing Magazine was also named Virginia as the top governed state in America," Kaine told reporters, "maybe to Karl Rove that isn't an achievement that would explain a federal government that couldn't respond to a hurricane a Katrina and couldn't figure out how to start and manage a war."

Kaine spoke to reporters in Washington after shooting a televised interview Sunday morning.

By the way, in the 2008 Governing Magazine ranking, Virginia shares its top A- rating with two other states: Washington and Utah.

I like this. First, Obama tears into McCain, and now Kaine fires back at Rove. This is exactly what we need, Dems. We ain't gonna lose this time.

2. Go Kaine! I want to see you kick some ass while keeping a smile on your face.
A smiling attack dog is what we need for Veep, and obviously Kaine is determined to get that done.

That is why I don't have preference as to who Obama picks at this point; I'm all in! :patriot:

5. Kaine is RIGHT, "they don't care and the business climate", or the people
especially the Katrina victims.

Remember Mad king Boy George was off eating Birthday cake with POW boy, and Rove told Mad king Boy George to do a fly-over of New Orleans a week later.

:applause: Goes out to Kaine for Speaking Truth to the power Elite.

8. Sounds familiar...
"He's been able but undistinguished. I don't think people could really name a big, important thing that he's done." The same applies to Dubya as Governor of Texas; I was a child during those years and the only thing he gave the state was the title of most execution happy state in the Union and a tax-free weekend. :eyes:

9. You go Tim. Damn

That's the spunkiest I've ever heard him. I worked for him as a precinct captain and I'm glad to have
done it, although he govern from a vague center position.

Just thought of a couple of reasons he'd be good beyond the Virginia battle ground status:

1) He's Catholic and active at it. Served in a Central American mission or something with a
leftist mentor.
2) As a national candidate, he could come more to the left than he is in Virginia, whic hwould help obama.

This is a great response. Virginia is a very efficient state for government. Everything is online and
easy to access if you are so inclined. Fairfax County, Virginia (DC area) is where the internet
started and Northern Virgina is a huge networking center. That wouldn't hurt either.

Excellent retort. Slammed him real good!

10. I give Gov. Kaine accolades for standing up to Rove...
But he's too socially conservative (compared to the mainstream) to be one heartbeat away from the presidency.

Finish out your term, Governor Kaine -- then go challenge Eric Cantor for Virginia's 7th District U.S. House seat, in 2010.

11. He was EXCELLENT at FRAMING against "Bobby Jindahl..." It was good to watch how he slayed him.!
Edited on Sun Aug-17-08 06:34 PM by KoKo01
He's very good..he has the "framing issues" that we Dems whine about down pat...and while Jindahl offered Jibberish/rehearsed Repug Points...Kaine managed to best him in that roung.

It was good to watch. Kaine has the "message down pat" but Obama isn't going to choose him as VP...

He's a new one to watch for us "Progressives," though...because he went against the Repug Bot Jindahl...and managed to sound BETTER!

GO TIM KAINE...wherever you land after your term as VA Gov. is over!

You have a future with us Progressives..but, not the DLC!

ON EDIT: I posted Jindal's name as what it must have appeared on his birth certificate. That he appeals to LA voters as someone called "Bobby Jindal" (who grew up in the "trailor park next to your granny" is a piece of art in itself.

The way he refers to himself is: "Bobby Jindal." It's a Jingle/Jingo for those LA Voters who still don't get it..and they might think he's the first "African-American" to get a voice in Louisiana...but then...we all know...that Bobby ain't Louisiana Creole...even by a stretch. about the hypocracy of politics and the sad "ignorance of electorate" given our Mainstream McCorporate Media these days...

:-(
