Warren on CNN: McCain was not at church during Obama's questioning

Pastor Warren with Rick Sanchez:

Warren said he asked both candidates if they knew questions beforehand, and they said, no. McCain was with the Secret Service on his way to the church during Obama's questioning. Warren apparently knew this when he talked about a "cone of silence." Warren said he asked McCain's staff if McCain had seen Obama's questioning and they said he had not. So Rick Sanchez says, so you went on the honor system (or words to that effect).

Warren said he had given both candidates "themes," and "kinds of questions" that would be asked.

Warren spoke highly of both men, saying it was a "consensus builder" vs. "a straight-talking warrior."

I'm as interested in dishonesty as in some kind of cheating. If Warren was speaking figuratively, none of my family got it. We all envisioned McCain sitting in some kind of room, where it would be assured he couldn't hear Obama's questioning. Apparently that was the impression of most folks?

McCain didn't SAY he wasn't there when asked about it.

...what's NOT blatantly clear, but everyone is quick to assume, is that Warren knew McCain wasn't there. If there's a plan in place for McCain to be in some certain room, perhaps Warren was under the impression that that was still the case.

This event was broadcasted live over wide range of mediums....as it was not sponsored by any one particular outlet and all media was invited.

a staffer may have come in with the crowd and simply called the limo on his cellphone and they put it on speaker phone for Gramps...

For christ's sake, take a look at how McCain performs ANYWHERE! He screws everything up. He has to keep digging for notes...jesus, he even had to dig in his coat and look at notes so he could talk to the woman in the supermarket about eggs. There is no way in hell that guy came on and didn't pause, didn't misspeak, and jumped ahead on questions without full knowledge of the questions in advance. And there is no way that an evangelical pastor is going to give the two an even playing field. That 'forum' was for the purpose of assuring the sheep they can vote for McCain and Obama was just the 'cover'. I can't believe Obama's people ever fell for this shit.

I've watched and listened to him several times and Mc Same has never sounded as well prepared as he did Saturday

Where the questions buried in lead or sitting on Warren's computer up to last night? Warren didn't make those questions up last night.

Before the question had even settled in the air he said No, No and Yes or something like that. I also felt he knew about the moral question and was prepared in his response.

If McCain wanted to hear it, he had opportunity. Not saying he did. But, let's be for real.

IN FACT, IMO ... I want to give Warren credit for being an honest broker, but really ... Do you not think that the McCain camp would not have told him that their schedule could not get McCain there until a few minutes before he was to go on stage, so they could load up the XM on the ride in ???

When Mc* wanted to get back to the question about judges. The caller said he hadn't been asked a question about judges. I haven't watch a u-tube replay yet to see if judges were mentioned -- it just sounded odd when I was watching it.

Just like it was odd when * got mad at one of the debates and said "let me finish." Nobody on the stage was talking to him. (Later, it was shown that he was wearing a strange device in the debates and whoever he was listening to was interrupting him.)

It is obvious to me that the way in which the campaign avoided answering the question speaks volumes that he was told what the questions were by his staff.

After being asked a very straightforward question as to whether you heard the questions, the normal answer would be an equally straightforward answer, yes or no. The McCain campaign danced all around it.

I felt that questions should have been asked of one candidate, then immediately the same question should have been asked of the other.

None of this whole hour question bullshit, which we are now finding out that McShame had the questions since he wasn't in the 'silent' booth the entire time.

I just got done watching Pastor Rick Warren being interviewed on CNN about last nights "civil forum" at his megachuch.

Well, it appears Pastor Rick started the forum off with a lie!

He said he would ask Barack Obama and John McCain the same questions, and Obama would go first, and so that McCain could not hear Obama's answers, McCain would be in a "cone of silence."

LIAR!

It turns out McCain was not even in the building when Obama was being questioned and was instead in his limo on the way to the forum.

Since this "civil forum" was broadcast live, there was nothing to stop McCain from watching the Obama portion of the discussion, which helps explain why McCain was able to answer some of the questions BEFORE Pastor Rick even asked them!

Shameful! Here we have this "civil forum" being held in a church and the questioner, who happens to be the pastor of said church, starts off by lying! Then, to make matters worse, when John McCain came on stage, neither he nor Rick Warren bothered to mention that McCain was in fact NOT in this phony "cone of silence!"

How "Christian" of them!

and was so sort of shocked by what I was hearing from Sanchez and Warren -- and at that earlier time, there'd been no previous hint about this at all -- that I just hurriedly dashed off what I thought I heard, as best I could. I didn't get it all, or maybe exactly right, and you did better. The story, however, I think is coming out, and my guess is it will be covered all over tomorrow.
