McCain throws Cindy under the bus
Edited on Sun Aug-17-08 06:56 PM by LuckyTheDog
Not content to humiliate his wife by asking her to take her top off for a bunch of bikers, McCain now says his relationship with her represents his "biggest moral failure."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4i3-CxaJLw0

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/08/17/1270967.aspx

Interestingly, when asked for an example of his greatest moral failure he cited the dissolution of his first marriage. Although that was as detailed as he got, the fact that he mentioned it at all -- especially while current wife Cindy was sitting in the first row -- is notable.

"My greatest moral failing, and I have been a very imperfect person, is the failure of my first marriage. It's my greatest moral failure."

Whoa, that'll leave a mark!

... his greatest immoral success story - younger, prettier, and oodles of cash thrown into the bargain.

If you can't rely on your spouse, that isn't much of a marriage.

11. what a cowardly way to phrase it
"... the failure of my first marriage..."

It's not so much that your marriage failed, my friend, it's more like you dumped your first wife like damaged goods in favor of someone who was richer and hotter. And weren't even divorced before you applied for your second marriage license.

Those little details make all the difference.

16. Makes it sound like marital problems
What pissed me off is that the way he answered it would leave people believing his wife, too, was at fault and just one of these things where they had drifted apart, etc. No, Johnny, it's because you were screwing around on her and trying to get yourself up the money ladder! Isn't it funny how the media doesn't want to touch that part of the story---but hell if Paris screws the pool guy it's national news!

That is incredibly scummy.

I do think it is weird though that she showed up from India with a baby. I mean isn't adoption something that should at least be discussed first? I'd expect it as a token gesture at least.

I've got a feeling that their marriage is kind of weird.

I think she has houses, causes, a beer company, and children.. He has the Washington schtick. I think he's most likely verbally abusive if not physically as well. I think she's very unhappy that he decided to run for president and even more unhappy that he's the nominee. I'm betting she votes for Obama.

after all, she's the one with the money and most of the assets of their marriage belong to her. It isn't as if she needs him for anything but love. could ya'll be mistaken about their relationship?

41. You're really spinning this.
McCain was saying failure to work out his first marriage was his failure, not that marrying Cindy was the cause of the marriage failing. In fact, marriages usually fall apart long before the infidelity start. People in DU never tire of pointing out what a hound dog McBush was before he hooked up with his current wife.

It's a stretch beyond credulity to see this as a swipe against Cindy.
