Is McCain letting Florida slip away?
An interesting story which I think shows that Obama's nationwide ground game is going to be a significant plus in November...

"Republican John McCain has been favored for months to win Florida in November’s election. But an intense effort by Democrat Barack Obama’s campaign in recent weeks has raised questions about whether McCain has done enough to solidify his advantage.

Obama has 200 paid staff members working in 32 offices in Florida. The Obama campaign has poured more than $6 million into four television ads in the state.

By contrast, McCain has about 30 paid staffers in about 30 offices in the state, and most of those offices double as county Republican Party campaign headquarters. McCain has bought no television time specifically in Florida, though national ads do run in Florida.

Polls, which in April and May showed McCain running 10 to 15 points ahead in Florida, have closed sharply, with McCain now holding a 3- to 6-point edge."

1. McCain has said his voters (presumably older) are not in FL during the summer but will return
by the fall. We'll see.

2. McCain is going to win Florida. He's very confident about that, and rightfully so.

6. Two commercials would help. One on Social Security, and one on McCain opposing the GI Bill.
McCain's support of Bush's plan to privatize SS would hurt him big time in a place like Florida.

8. McNut here in Cocoa Fl right now!
Got held up in for his motorcade show about 11:30 this morn. At least 50 motorcycles His Big Bad Bus and a dozen police cars. I was at a small mall waiting for mu husand to pick me up, he was stopped in traffic waiting also. A custumer came out of subshop and was not pleased and yelled, How the f--k much will that cost the taxpayers! My husband said he gave the thumbs down to all! we live near the college where he is speaking, police all over the place! I doubt there was much of a turnout! I imagine he had that size escort from Orlando here which is about 40 miles.

9. I know this sounds crazy, but
I think if Obama is still not leading in FL after Labor Day, then he should drop the state. He should focus on Ohio, Colorado, Virginia, and New Hampshire. I've given up hope on Florida ever since 2000.

10. There is growing evidence that in states like Florida they are underestimating minority turnout

Obama has registered over 100,000 new voters in FL alone.

They are spending big in Florida because their internals are showing they are doing well.
