Rick Warren to God-o-Meter: Obama, Dems Can't Just Talk Faith

<snip>

Some Obama supporters are claiming that McCain saw the questions before the forum began, giving him a leg up on Obama.

They're dead wrong. That's just sour grapes. They both did fantastically well. The only question he knew, I gave them the first question and I was changing the questions within an hour I talked to both of them a week before the debate and told them all the themes. I talked personally to John McCain and I talked personally to Barack Obama. I said, 'We'll talk about leadership, talk about the roles of government,' I said I'd probably have a question about climate change, probably a question on the courts. I didn't say, 'I'm going to ask which Supreme Court justice would you not . They were clearly not prepared for that.

A source at the debate tells me that McCain had access to some communications devices in the few minutes before he went on stage with you and that there was a monitor in his green room, in violation of the debate rules.

That's absolutely a lie, absolutely a lie. That room was totally free, with no monitors--a flat out lie.

1. He's losing his image of impartiality by defending McCain
Warren is just another phony right wing pulpit pusher.

3. I could tell when he repeatedly addressed Bomb Bomb as "John"
but referred to Obama just as "Senator."

To quote Warren's favorite book, "By their deeds you
shall know them." Warren's defense of McLame and his
refusal to admit there may have been some favoritism
isn't looking very fair/balanced ...

16. He called him Barack.
Come on now. This farce is bad enough and gives us plenty of fuel as it is. No need to look for stuff that isn't there.

24. I watched it twice and I didn't hear that ... he repeatedly called McLame John
It's not a major point but Warren just seemed much
more supportive of Bomb Bomb. He should have reined
him in when he "started giving his stump speech"
(which he warned Obama early on not to do).

2. Warren is even lying about the themes he told them to prep for ...
I heard he was supposed to be asking about "non-traditional"
evangelical issues, like climate change, world poverty, the
AIDS crisis ... and then he ends up asking about when life
begins, Supreme Court justices, evil in the world ...

God is watching you, Warren.

5. so why didn't he just tell everyone at the start about what they knew in advance?
Obama mentioned something about the adoption issue - but I assume that's a big thing that Saddleback works on?

Both lied about Mccain hearing the questions and answers. And now they can't come clean about it.

11. He and McCone even played up the game for the public: "How
comfortable was that cone of silence?" "I was listening through the wall." Yuk, yuk, yuk! Just a couple of vaudeville actors, those two! Both knowing it was all bullshit.

7. Can't talk faith?
No, it is you and your ridiculous republican posers who don't have the slightest clue as to who Jesus was, and what he calls us to do with our lives.

You freaking republicans act as though christianity is a thug gang. It is all about being one of them to further their agenda of wealth and power--which I need to inform you is in direct opposition of the message of Jesus. I almost never hear any of you mention the name of Jesus, and never do I hear any of you posers talk as though you have any clue as to the message of Jesus.

You all are freaking camels that are so fat from your desires of wealth & power that you can not even see the eye of the needle let alone attempt to form a strategy on how you are going to get your bloated bank accounts through it.

Psst, one more thing. The guy named Jesus was known to over-turn a table or two in "houses of worship" that perverted the word of God to enrich themselves.

>>>either could monitor Obama's interview or one of his staff could monitor it and summarize it for him.

I love it when they reframe the accusation so they can deny it.

On Edit:
And goddammit, stop misusing "sour grapes" like it means "sore loser."

13. someone should ask Warren
If you so believe McCain when he tells you that he didn't listen in or nobody forwarded him what Obama said, then why did you have the "cone of silence" in the first place?

decided he wanted to feed his ego on national television instead of doing "God's work" - fair enough. I sure hope enjoys all the lime light - he earned it.

17. Rick Warren knows his reputation is trashed now.
He is desperate to do something, but he also knows that everything he does is making him look more desperate.

The truth is, it's not that big a deal, and he should just be keeping his mouth shut and issuing press releases through his people.

Personally getting involved is the LAST thing he wants to be doing here.

His stance should have been "I was informed that John was in the green room, which I was informed had no monitors. I have no further information on the matter. If the Secret Service had other plans for John, that's beyond the scope of our debate plans. I trust both the candidates at their word."

19. obama shouldn't have gotten involved in this weird Q&A
I watched, but was really uncomfortable the whole time. Warren's reputatin will remain exactly what it was before...think about who reads his shit. Just because he's into poverty causes and the environment...just means he's a super christian from Cali. I also found it grotesque Obama had to go with the "sacrament" of marriage, union between man and woman bullshit...geez why o why?
