Not likely, I know. But I'd lke to see it happen. I'm not, and have never been, one of those rabid Clarkites, but I think General Clark would serve us well as VP. I like the way he thinks.

But I'll learn to love whomever the pick is as long as he or she is not a republican!

but I trust Obama's judgment on this and think he has earned that trust with his successes so far. Anyone he picks will be fine with me.

4. I would, too.
But I'd stay with Obama if he brings in Clark for the convention and acutally listens to him.

This dissing of Clark that I'm currently seeing is making me throw up my hands and yell, "DO WE WANT TO LOSE?!"

5. Clark has no role in the Convention...yet..
but if he is picked up for VP then the schedule would have been completed. My guess is that although we expect Clark to be in Milan, Italy... it may actually be a head fake for the VP selection.

6. I REALLY REALLY like Clark
He was my candidate last go round. And while I like him a lot, I think his talents may be wasted as a VP. I think he could serve the U.S. much better in the capacity of Sec. of State. My 2nd choice for him would be Sec. of Defense.

him not to bother to come to the convention is a head-fake, to throw the media off the trail.

I know, it probably isn't Clark, but I am going to keep my fingers crossed until the end. I am biased, since Wes Clark would have been my first choice for POTUS if he had run this time, but I think he would be the perfect VP choice.

First off, I think we need a Southern white guy with a strong military record, including being majorly wounded in Vietnam while engaging in bravery under fire, to counter the McCain POW story. He has proven he can take on McCain's POW story, too, and is willing to do so.

Clark would appease the Hillary voters, since he has been a staunch supporter of hers all along, but he wouldn’t offend the Obama voters, because he has never gotten down in the dirt or attacked Obama as other Hillary campaign operatives have. Also, he has been absolutely selfless about campaigning and fundraising for all sorts of Democrats since 2004, so there are a lot of favors to call in.

He is a brilliant Rhodes Scholar, and also from Arkansas, which carries the cachet of Bill Clinton for those who were hoping this would be Bill’s third term.

He is a handsome son of a gun, which does count with a lot of people.

He has been a FOX News analyst, so he is known and admired by a lot of the voters we might otherwise never attract, and yet he has always smacked the FOX Fools down whenever they tried to pull any of their BS in his presence.

He speaks well in public. Two great public speakers on the ticket would highlight McCain’s clumsiness and gaffes.

Notice that he brings all the same advantages Webb would bring, but none of the disadvantages, since he isn’t DINO, but rather a genuine progressive. Also, he has served under both Republican and Democratic administrations, and he has the ear and the trust of much of the military brass, who spoke to him when they wanted to make stuff public that they did not dare to say themselves in public.

He was an Independent in the past, but is now a staunch Dem. But he still has connections to both sides of the aisle and can work with Republican, as well as fans among Republican voters.

Also, his military experience includes command positions--i.e., executive roles--whereas much could be made of the fact that McCain has never had any executive experience.

Clark for VP!

18. I think Clark is the 3rd most likely, after Bayh and Clinton.
1. Bayh ------------------- 35% chance

2. Clinton ---------------- 25% chance

3. Clark ------------------ 15% chance

4. Biden ------------------ 10% chance

5. Sebelius --------------- 7.5% chance

6. Richardson ------------- 6% chance

7. Other ------------------ 1.5% chance

I think the talk of Biden is to throw us off the trail. These are my predictions, and I'm gonna stick to them till the VP is announced.

I'd be happy with any of the first 4, but after researching Biden, I'm a little concerned.

23. I think he's screwed if he doesn't.
Obama MUST have someone with national security credentials. And not just your average credentials. Compare McCain's military record with Clark's. McCain looks pathetic next to Clark. Anyone looks pathetic next to Clark. Obama is nuts if he doesn't choose him.

24. Agreed, especially in light of recent global events...Clark complements Obama very nicely...
The Russia-Georgia flare-up reminds one that there's more going on in the world than the Iraq quagmire. A veep candidate well-versed, experienced and respected in military affairs would be an incredible asset to Obama's "civilian" appeal -- and I see no other Democrat who could fill this role as smoothly and confidently as Clark.

Clark complements Obama very nicely, and vice versa -- a kind of yin-yang of smarts/wisdom, youth/experience, domestic/international, urban/military, etc. They're both highly intelligent and articulate and seem to have wings to stay above the muck and mire, and they both are acutely aware of all the right-wing crap in the media, etc.

Fingers crossed for Clark.

I have kept this quote from Wes Clark as my sig since he ran in 04 because I think it encapsulates the man and his character:

"Freedom and dignity spring from within the human heart. They are not imposed. And inside the human heart is where the impetus for political change must be generated." Wes Clark, 2004, Washington Monthly

30. Me too. I'd rather Clark than another person who's in Washington already.
Another Senator kinda doubles down on the dubious voting record being in Congress gives you and Obama only avoids most of that because of his relatively little years in Congress. A governor as VP kinda avoids that but if they're not well known or popular, it's doubling down on the newbie image that Obama already has trouble with on his own.

So I wish that Clark is in the running but it looks like he's a super dark horse this year. :(

31. boy howdy, me too!
I'm getting used to the idea of Biden and I think he would be a nice partner for Obama... he has a wry sense of humor that would go down very well right about now, as the campaigns get more and more negative, and I think he'd be a great attack dog. But I also think his vote on the bankruptcy bill could come back to bite him very hard.

Just joking. My estimation of Sen. Biden has risen considerably after listening to him during the primary process.

Actually, I'd be happy to vote for ANY of the candidates who ran in the primaries as the VP part of the ticket. What an impressive group of people that is.

Clark's son was screwing with us when he posted that DailyKos comment or that Clark's campaign was just doing psychops on us in being amused by talk of Clark being VP.

I really hope that Clark is chosen too because it'd be almost criminal for Clark NOT to speak. I mean, he's one of the rare Democratic military guys. He's perfect for a speaking spot on the night of "Securing America's Future." Denver, not Milan.
