Bush/campaign responds to Rassman and Cleland
Edited on Wed Aug-25-04 11:59 AM by DougieZero
I heard a quick mention on FOX of the letter they are prepared to give to Rassman and Cleland when they show up in Crawford...

It was something along the lines of: you can't have your cake and eat it too... you disgraced vets when you came home from vietnam (referring to kerry)...

4. It's more than: "he served noble"
yikes... I can't wait to see this letter. I wonder how FOX knows some of the early details?.... hmmmmm...

6. What I'm hearing
The Bushies plan to hand Cleland and Rassman a letter saying they disgraced the vets when they came home. But, it doesn't make any sense. How was Cleland supposed to stay when he'd lost three limbs? I don't think Rassman ever protested the war. He's a Republican. How could anyone possibly ever think he disgraced veterans? Even Bush isn't that stoopid, is he?

17. They're saying that about Rassman and Cleland????
NO WAY! I know they're stupid, but that is about as slimey as one can get.

3. WTF???!!!
How could they? That makes no sense whatsoever. What in hell is it supposed to mean? If they give those two something hateful, it's only going to hurt them, the morans. Please keep us posted.

5. As another DU'er pointed out
(see front page)

It looks like we will have to settle this Vietnam thing once and for all, and point out how the Iraq policy is flawed in many of the same ways.

Kerry is going to need every vet that supports him to stand up now.

9. That's so wrong in so many ways
Being anti-war is a "disgrace"?
Freedom of speech is a "disgrace"?
They're firing off a response before even reading the Cleland letter?

And this from a guy who went AWOL?

Don't go near that can of worms, George.....we're warning you!

10. Fox says Jerry Patterson -"a surrogate" to meet Cleland at 1 pm
He will give Cleland a letter for Kerry signed by Reps. Duncan Hunter, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee; Randy "Duke" Cunningham, R-Calif., who spent 21 years in the Navy and Sam Johnson, R-Texas, who spent 28 years in the Air Force. Also signing the letter are Robert O'Malley and James Fleming, who both received Medals of Honor for their service in the Marine Corps during Vietnam, retired Lt. Col. Richard Castle and Lt. Gen. Dave Palmer, a former superintendent at West Point. Officials said the two men will be invited into the staff compound at the president's ranch and offered a discussion with Palmer and Patterson.

The letter from the president's supporters says Kerry can not claim to be a war hero while also claiming that he and his crewmates committed atrocities against the Vietnamese people. They also caution him against trying to silence his critics.

"You can't have it both ways. You can't build your convention and much of your campaign around your service in Vietnam, and then try to say that only those veterans who agree with you have a right to speak up. There is no double standard for our right to free speech. We all earned it."

I hope when Cleland goes to the Crawford Middle School to address the press he will note how the Brave President was afraid to meet with him!

18. Notice the letter doesn't address the point
calling on Bush to deonounce the ads. BTW, don't you love how they say the Swifties have a right to free speech without ever commenting on the content of what they're saying?

Edited on Wed Aug-25-04 12:14 PM by in_cog_ni_to
He was telling the stories of the Vets who testified at The Winter Soldier. Am I wrong?

Is he trying to SILENCE his critics or get some TRUTH from them? GEEEEEEEEEEEEZ!!!!!!!!

THIS IS WAR, folks. Flat out WAR! These bastards are never going to stop this shit.

The gutless wonder won't meet with Cleland and Rassman. surprise, surprise. Never answers to anything. Damn wimp. :grr:

So they admit they agree with the Smearboat vets for Bush? Interesting strategy. :eyes:

you can't have your cake and eat it too... you disgraced vets when you came home from vietnam...

BULLSHIT!!!! He helped to end that G-dforsaken war!

Kerry should write back..."At least I went because I knew it was the right thing to do since I was a child of privilege, LIKE YOU. I wanted to give something back to my country. I didn't park my ass in Alabama in the Air National Guard and then go AWOL. :grr:

SO, I take it the idiot-in-chief isn't going to denounce the ad?

with servicemen & women coming back from Iraq and then protesting.

22. Cleland should say ....
"With all due respect, we didn't come here to speak to anyone but President Bush. If he isn't brave enough to meet with me face to face, then that says more about his courage than I possible could. He needs to stop hiding behind and dividing veterans and meet with us face to face."

The letter is addressed to bush not some "surrogate"! Let the "surrogate" deliver his own letter to Kerry, if he dares!

standard but there was no mention of disgracing anyone from what CNN said.

I can't believe those dumb asses at Faux reported the "disgraced" comment and it isn't even in the letter.

29. They hate Kerry for helping to stop the war.
Apparantly, not enough American soldiers died. I wonder what their personal threshold would have been to say "enough is enough"?
