The great quadrennial American IQ test is now in full swing.
If Obama doesn't win this thing going away, I'm going to sit down with my wife and have a serious talk about moving to freaking Norway, because I will no longer be able to tolerate being stuck in the stupidest fucking country on the planet. As clear as the choice was in 2000, as screamingly obvious as it was in 2004, this year's election more than any other in my lifetime is a transparent choice between the catastrophic incompetence and idiocy of the previous administration and a return to some hope for a future that doesn't read like some grim dystopic novel. For God's sake, people--McCain? Up by 5%? You've got to be fucking kidding me.

2. echoes of 2004
Problem is, we get all worked up for a couple of months, and then settle back into resenting the Prez and fantasizing about the next GE. How to get out of the cycle? WIN IN NOVEMBER.

3. We should consider all media coverage and polling hostile and untrustworthy

More than ever we're going to have to figure out how to win this one on will alone. If we can GOTV and we will wipe the floor with McCain.

4. Americans HATE Democrats.
The Weyrich/Atwater/Rove machine was all too effective in creating a generation of fucking idiots who would rather finger-ear and LA LA LA LA LA LA themselves to death when presented with the Republican's anti-worker, pro-big business, pro-tax-dollar-wasting, anti-environment, regressive foreign policy and anti-Constitutional positions, past and present.

They don't care. They're truly conditioned to think and completely convinced that having a Dem in office will be way worse, despite the fact that it's only happened twice in the past 40 years. And in that 40 years, the country's gone from Post WWII prosperity and thriving communities into a giant tumbleweed-and-cracked-cement abandoned village. Coincidence?

"It's easy to deceive a people. You merely tell them they've been attacked and then wave a flag." - Joseph Goebbels.

6. I guess I'm lucky in that I have a dual citizenship so I wouldn't need to worry about getting a visa
The downside is that the dual citizenship is for Taiwan, which has China constantly breathing down its neck. Although the kickass thing about Taiwan is that its Congress can have crazy ass fist fights. Sometimes, I think it'd be better for the Democrats and Republicans to slap each other silly and let it all out and then get to work. At the very least, even if they don't accomplish anything, they give us some amusement. But then I realize that's sad when my expectations for government are so lowered that I'd be content to see a Congressman be a clown as long as they DO SOMETHING.

8. My wife has dual citizenship with Taiwan as well...
Definitely not my first pick for a new home for several reasons. Plus I'm a 30-something white guy with kindergarten-level Chinese... :(

13. Yes, I'd rather that we win so that I can continue to stay in America and improve it
so that it actually fits the ideals that we were all taught in elementary school.

11. Also a fine choice.
I like a country with nationalized banks and electricity, and no military. And, you know, fabulous tropical beaches.

10. Husband and I have been having the same thoughts
we're kinda hamstrung right now though. We have his kids 50% of the time and they won't graduate high school for another 5 years. We're trying to figure out which country to go to. If they elect McInsane, it's over. We will crumble under our own stupidity. America will become the movie IDIOCRACY. We get closer to it everyday.

12. Have any of you ever read this?

Check it out. I think it's coming true. Kornbluth was a prophet. Forget the movie Idiocracy. This is the granddaddy of that, and better quality.
