5. Even though it had a lot of evidence, it was also a petty issue
Edited on Wed Aug-20-08 12:07 PM by eshfemme
which doesn't play to Obama's strengths. The fact that his policies are way better than McCain's confused status quo policies dressed up with some new language and that he has the image of someone who's classy and isn't taking the low road like McCain has, circulating something which, although it has a substantial amount of evidence to back it up, sounds like mere hearsay isn't good. When you smear, no matter how true it is, the issues lose center stage.

6. So here's the deal...
If Obama is really considering picking Biden for his VP, we shouldn't really be pushing the plagiarism thing. Especially when the source of the original quote is lacking and McCain has people willing to lie for him. Let it smolder on the internets.

That's my opinion, anyhow.

7. Here's what I (think I) know:
Edited on Wed Aug-20-08 02:24 PM by kansasblue
Here's what I think I know:

1). Was never in an Alexander Solzhenitsyn book.

2). Some anecdotal stories over the years that attributed it to Solzhenitsyn.

3). McCain had mentioned the story before. But not with such a religious tone, it was more about humanity. Mentioned it once as there was a vietnam prisoner.

4). Some McCain friend said he's heard it from McCain before.

It's hard to get a solid story here. I think we need to let the story go.
