Bush-appointed judge who once worked for Ken Starr delays Rezko sentencing till Oct. 28
Edited on Wed Aug-20-08 04:25 PM by highplainsdem
The headline is just

Judge delays Rezko sentencing until Oct. 28

http://www.southernillinoisan.com/articles/2008/08/20/ap-state-il/d92m4vu03.txt

but with the timing guaranteeing Rezko will be in the news again the week before the election, I wondered if this was a Republican judge, and she is:

Part of Ken Starr's Whitewater team.

To be fair, I don't know for certain that it was her idea to set the sentencing date just days before the election. Rezko's attorneys asked for more time, after the sentencing was originally set for September 3. I don't know if they chose that late-October date, or if the judge did.

But that sentencing date, a week before the election, will make the GOP happy.

1. Rezko trial is a non-starter
Everyone that's gone up against Obama has tried to tie him to Rezko and nobody's buying it. So unless the judge is also planning a surprise sentencing of Barack Obama himself I don't think its going to move the needle one way or the other.

2. I don't think the GOP views this as a non-starter. They'll enjoy having Obama's name
mentioned in stories about Rezko right before the election. It certainly doesn't help Obama.

6. What a ridiculous response. This has nothing to do with Clinton. I was pointing out
what a Republican judge has done, according to the story that showed up in Google News today.

Why are you still fighting the primaries?

I expected the reaction here to be anger about what the judge did, moving the sentencing to just before the election (that would have been the normal Democratic reaction). And not another attack on me just because I'd supported Clinton earlier.

But it seems more and more here that the ONLY thing that interests many of the people in this forum is attacking the Clintons and people who had supported them. You Clinton-bashers seem blind to everything else.

10. It's here because it showed up while I was checking Google News.
I usually post news stories the day they show up.

But what an interesting, suspicious little comment from you...

11. What part of the OP and linked articles were you unable to read?
This is here because a judge set Rezko's sentencing for the week before the election -- which will mean more headlines about him then and more stories at least mentioning Obama's associating with him. And since that was just too convenient for the Republicans, I googled the judge's name and discovered she'd been appointed by Bush, and had worked for Ken Starr. Which makes her scheduling the sentencing for that week even more interesting.

It was probably interesting to the Obama campaign. But so many DUers don't react like normal Democrats at all...
