"Got wood?" (McCain's seven houses)
This Biden line is a quip, people. Funny, yes. But if we think it is going to have an impact on the election, we are dreaming.

There are 85 zillion reasons why it would be crazy to put a dumb, Daddy's-boy, runty, flinty, Bush-smooching bum like McCain in the White House. But, "because he's so rich he doesn't know how many houses he has" isn't one of them. We tried this "out of touch" thing with Bush in 2004, remember? It didn't work.

And besides, the biggest, best, politics-of-personal-destruciton point with McCain's houses is that McCain got the houses by marrying "Tereza Heinz McCain." He's a "spouse-made" man, a mouse in the pocket of Paris Hilton I.

1. I disagree. People are hurting more financially now. They're more likely to hear
the attacks on McCain's elitist lifestyle and feel disgruntled that he has it so good. (Well, not the diehard repubs. For them Kerry was elitist, but McCain is entitled. Go figure.)

2. Non-black resentment of Obama will probably be worse.
Non-blacks are more likely to resent Obama's self-earned wealth than the wealth McCain got from his second wife. You didn't go far enough in your cynicism about disgruntled voters. Rush Limbaugh hasn't missed it.

At best, the seven houses line helps to neutralize the attack on Obama as elitist.
