Maher just fucking nailed it...
"The American electorate keeps getting dumber and dumber. They get the President they deserve, and they don't deserve a good one."

7. If Obama loses this...
I am tempted to just sit back, cross my fingers hoping there's no military draft, and laugh my fucking ass off as the Republicans continue taking this country straight to hell. I wonder how long it's going to go on before people finally realize a pattern.

6. this kind of rhetoric just plays into the hands of people who call progressives
elitist... you shouldnt go around trashing the people you need to vote for you... that's just a bad move, and in bad taste.

9. They call Obama a terrorist, the n-word, and God knows what else...
They deserve every bit of criticism they receive. Ignorance is bliss. Fuck it at this point. They want to continue screwing their own self-interest based on paranoia and prejudice (as aided by the media and the Repubs), fine by me. I'll laugh my ass off. That's what Carlin did. It's probably the best approach to take. Because at some point it has to become laughable, otherwise you just want to cry because it truly is that pathetic.

I've heard it before, "The U.S. fucks around with the internal politics of many, many foreign nations" and I believed it, but NOW I know the detailed facts.

10. That is so true.
I would like to see people have to take a test before they have the right to vote.

It might be the 1st time many have thought through the political process and its importance .

22. Certain areas in the south used to require people take a test to vote.
Edited on Tue Aug-26-08 09:19 AM by Mike Daniels
We did away with those requirements as a nation.

Besides, given the poor schooling in inner cities what's to say you wouldn't have a lot of potential Democratic voters fail the test?

15. Is he channeling H. L. Mencken?
I used to use a Mencken quote in my sig line because it so well reprented the last 7 years.

As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."

17. I have questions to those of you who think Maher is spot on
especially if the unthinkable happens. What did you do to stop it? Did you register voters for Obama and the Democratic Party? Did you go door to door for Obama and the Democratic Party? Did you counteract the lies that are being spread about Senator Obama? If the unthinkable happens, I won't blame the low information voters alone, I will also blame the armchair elites, who sit on their asses believing that they are too good to go out there among the hustings and help Senator Obama to win. Bill Maher I used to like, but he is nothing more than a hack who is doing nothing to help.

19. I'm already having to fight the smears...
while pretending to not be a Democrat because I am in West Texas, right in the Bible Belt with people who literally believe Obama is a terrorist. Well, I don't think they literally believe that. It's their excuse for hating him anyway. I think we all know what really lies behind it. But I have corrected some smears about him not knowing the Pledge, not getting sworn in on the Bible, and being a Muslim. Today one of them was joking that Obama would be just fine as President if he wears a bulletproof vest.

21. I found his comments disgusting. Blaming voters when the blame lies with media
who deceived them about the Dems and whitewashed the Republicans in 2000, 2004, and are trying to do the same in 2008.

He really pissed me off. But he generally pisses me off.

right now. I'm sick of us liberals trashing one another for not being "pure." Why do we bury our own?!? That is what is pissing me off with these so-called liberal talk show hosts. I'm sick of the whiners like Maddow and Malloy. Either get onboard or STFU!!
