In The Primaries I Wrote That The Democrats Would Be Underdogs - Big Media's Threat To Democracy
Edited on Mon Aug-25-08 08:22 PM by Median Democrat
To begin with, here is thread I wrote regarding the spin that the MSM would give on the convention:

Isn't it scary how correct I am on the spin? Now, if the media were not biased, I would be totally off, as the media faithfully reports what is being said on the floor. Instead, I am pretty close to correct. A list of prior sources and discussion on MSM's bias can be found on my journal:

http://journals.democraticunderground.com/Median%20Democrat

In the primaries, while Hillary and Barack were still fighting over the nomination, I wrote that whoever won the nomination would be a severe underdog despite what the polls said. Why? Because Big Media is in the tank for the GOP.

Now, not all media is biased. Some outlets, like Fox and the Washington Times, are not merely biased. Rather, they function purely as propaganda outlets that ape an actual news program. No real news is actually reported.

The rest of the MSM outlets are biased beginning with hardcore conservative commentators balanced with moderate commentators who are supposed to present the "liberal" position. Where's Eric Alterman? Where is Kucinich? Where are the real liberals? Instead, you get this false neutrality on MSNBC, CNN, ABC and CBS.

As noted in the thread linked above, the MSM is going to give supposed PUMA members 10 times the coverage that the vast majority of real Hillary supporters who are not voting for Obama receive. If the coverage were truly fair and balanced, you would expect far more coverage of the many Hillary supporters who are strongly supporting Barack.

Instead, the MSM is spending most of its coverage on so-called PUMA protests, which are actually led by folks like Will Bower, who is actually a prior contributor to John McCain's presidential run in 2000. You would think that the MSM would report this, but they do not. Here is the truth on Will Bower, the alleged Democratic who is now supporting John McCain:

Sadly, many folks on DU continue to fall for this spin, and fail to see the true danger posed to our democracy by a corporate controlled and censored media.

3. That is being naive about the MSM and Fox.
Are You Seriously Suggesting That Anything Hillary Would Do Would Make Fox Not Spin and Lie? To repeat, the vast majority of Hillary Clinton voters will vote for Barack Obama. Yet, they receive no coverage. Remember the McCain commercial with 1 Hillary Clinton delegate? What about the vast majority of DNC delegates who supported Hillary who are going to vote for Obama. I am not saying that things will ever be 100% cool between a losing nomineee and a winning nominee. However, the MSM insists on covering and exagerating this situtation. Again, who the fuck is Will Bower, the chairman of PUMA? He has a contribution to Hillary late in the 2008 primaries, and no prior history of contributing to Democrats. Also, on MSNBC, he admitted that he had contributed to the McCain campaign in 2000. YET, no one in the MSM mentions this. In other words, the Republicans would always have some trojan horse types claiming that they are now voting for John McCain, and the MSM would always focus on these folks, rather than the issues.

The truth does not matter. What Hillary says or does will not matter. Is there anything that Hillary could say or do that will suddenly cause Fox or CNN to back off? No.

To begin with, Fox is not a real journalistic network. They ape a news organization, but they do not actually report. Rather, they distribute propaganda. ABC and CNN are news programs, though they are heavily biased.

Sorry, but there will always be "something" or an "excuse" as to why this year is so tough, and this will always be blamed on the candidates. Consistently, we fail to recognize the real problem, and that is the gradual and ongoing loss of an impartial media.

Well, here's another prediction: 2012 will be worse. Perhaps net neutrality will be ended in an effort to snuff out and censor alternative media. Also, perhaps the big six, will further shrink to the big two or three major networks.

2. I'm not an attorney but I feel that there has got to be some law against the
type of raw propaganda that is being rained upon the American people by the TV media. They make it very difficult for Americans to sort out the truth. Somehow, Obama is going to have to defeat the worlds largest, wealthiest and most skilled political propaganda machine. That's just not right.
