5. i guess it was a light hearted interview and Leno was joking around and he said
something like "I'll give you a million dollars if you can tell me how many houses you own" and she said he went from light to all serious and said "I was a pow"

that you should have someone else make that argument for you.

It worked for him in the past and because he is stuck in time(70's) he thinks it can go on forever

He is Old Hat, old thoughts, old solutions....same ole beer stories heard in Bars all across America...He is a FRAUD

LAST line of defense: POW POW POW POW

his campaign can't think of ANYTHING to counter the house/out of touch charges.

he's opening himself up to ridicule on his strongest point, and he's DOING it to himself

it's so obvious

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/08/on-leno-mccain.html

For a million dollars," Jay Leno asked Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., today, "how many houses do you have?"

"Could I just mention to you, Jay, that, at a moment of seriousness. I spent five-and-a-half years in a prison cell," McCain said. "I didn't have a house. I didn't have a kitchen table. I didn't have a table. I didn't have a chair. And I didn't spend those five-and-a-half years because, not because I wanted to get a house when I got out."

Turning to the subject of his wife Cindy's father, whose built her family's fortune, McCain said, "you know, I'm very proud of Cindy's father. He was a guy that barely got out of high school, fought in W.W. II in the Army Air Corps, came home and made a business, and made the American dream.

"And so somehow, you've had Cindy on this show, and the fact is that she's extremely generous," McCain said, "she goes around the world doing humanitarian stuff. She's now in Georgia as we speak, looking at the humanitarian aspects of the results of this Russian invasion. So, I'm proud of my life and my record, and we spend our time in a condominium in Washington, in a condominium in Phoenix, sometime over here in the state of California and we have a place up in northern Arizona. And, my friends, I'm proud of my record of service to this country. And it has nothing to with houses. What it has to do with putting Americans in houses and keeping in their homes. And that's what I'm gong to do."

Concluded Leno: "That sounds like five houses."

19. by the way, both Cindy's father and uncle are convicted FELONS:
http://www.azcentral.com/news/specials/mccain/articles/0301mccainbio-chapter6.html

After World War II (Hensley was a bombardier on a B-17 that was shot down over the English Channel), Hensley and his brother Eugene went to work at Marley-owned liquor distributorships in Phoenix and Tucson.

In 1948, the Hensley brothers were convicted of falsifying records to conceal, government lawyers contended, the illegal distribution of hundreds of cases of liquor. The sales occurred from 1945 to 1947, postwar years when liquor was rationed and in short supply.

Eugene Hensley was sentenced to a year in federal prison. Jim Hensley got six months, but his sentence was suspended. He received probation.

In 1953, Jim Hensley was again charged with falsifying records at Marley's liquor firms. The companies were defended by William Rehnquist, who would go on to become chief justice of the Supreme Court. Hensley was found not guilty

12. One HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE point is being missed
From what I read earlier Jay said he would pay him a million if he could come up with the correct number.

John went off on his POW speech and .......

Jay said "I guess that means five."

Now I get the vibes that Jay is a Indi or a rightie and his response was....

A FUCKING JOKE meaning he thinks McCains answer is a FUCKING JOKE!

When a candidate becomes a joke they are toast.

21. And I for one am sick of hearing it
When you're a thinking person, you see it for what it is, a lack of critical thinking. Instead of giving any sort of well-thought out reply (whether we Dems like the message or not) he seeks the sympathy vote. I for one have long lost sympathy for the man's harrowing experience in Vietnam. He's got 7 houses, I've got one room and my car's about to be repo'd and I don't know if I'll make rent this month. So sorry for your 5 years in a POW camp 30+ years ago.

28. Wow. Worst thing he could have said.
It was already becoming a joke. How many articles with a title of "A Noun, A Verb and POW" were written last week? Could not have played that any worse.

And damned, if that doesn't make me really, really happy.
