Anyone think the pug party line is predicated on McCain picking a female VP?
Edited on Tue Aug-26-08 12:29 AM by Kurt_and_Hunter
Having heard about ten professional pug operatives spewing today's talking points, at some point it struck me that the party line would make more sense if McCain was planning to pick a female running mate Friday.

During operation Hillary (which appears to be a big coordinated republican psy-op thing--aka 'rat-fucking'-- that they're committed to, not a throw-way), more than one RNC op expressed the idea that "a lot of women are very disappointed there isn't a woman vice president." The first time I snorted at 1) what a temporary talking point that was, since McCain is going to commit the same dastardly crime in four days, and 2) the odd idea that any woman's big dream in life is to vote for a female Vice President. (People seldom couch their political dreams in terms of the Vice Presidency.)

But the second time a pug operative said something like that, it just felt like they were peddling an imaginary demand for a female VP. (McCain already knows who he's going to name Friday, one assumes.)

So I'll predict McCain / Hutchinson. The business women (Fiorina, Whitman) are hardly any Republican's idea of a Commanders in Chief, and Palin seems to be having some weird PR problem. And I doubt McCain has the guts to go for something really daring/reckless like Olympia Snowe (if she'd even take it), so it falls Kay Bailey Hutchison.

If so, a weak candidate, IMO. Aside from gender I can't think of a thing she has going for her. (I think folks are burned out on Texans right now. She's sooooo 2004.)

2. I don't know the story. People keep saying she's embroiled in some bizarre family scandal
But I have no idea what the scandal is. Seemed like enough people were alluding to it that I assumed Palin was out.

3. I've been saying that for some time....it will be her.
That won't help in the Southwest or even the rust belt. She has a patrician air about her, and she's kind of boring and drab. Plus, I'd like to know what her hubby has been up to.

7. They are seven different ghastly kinds of lame
but probably will refrain from going with the sad pandering to women because probably can't really slide McCain and a woman through.
Though, I must admit that I'm not clear on why they are so bitter on McCain. He's a good proper oil puppet. They might but I cannot imagine such a crappy ploy working. Of course their are tons of stupid people.

9. The way Bush derailed her Senate bid says all one needs to know about loyalty in politics.
There's nothing funnier seeing Bush's truest believers get rolled under the bus.

Near as I could tell, the White House was against her because she was too controversial on account of having fixed an election.

Now that's irony!

11. She fired the top cop of Alaska and abused her power
Edited on Tue Aug-26-08 02:02 AM by Arm Chair Politician
Her sister was married to a state trooper and it appears as
though she had a number of department heads call and pressure
Alaska's top cop to terminate the trooper after she was
unsuccessful years ago. The copy had received discipline and
evidently Palin was unhappy at the outcome and has been
pressuring for his removal.

I live in Alaska, Palin is a conservative, but actually
pro-union and is married to a union man. Palin has also
states she will not bust any unions and has been better than
expected to deal with regarding organized labor in our state.
I can't see McCain having her on the ticket...he's from a
right-to-work state and refuses to respond to union's for a
potential endorsement and Palin is from a non-right-to-work
state with strong union backing.

With that said, she is under allot of scrutiny and at this
point has to much baggage and has tarnished her 84% support
ratings in recent times. It is important to note that her
positive rating is primarily due to the former governor...I
think Frank's rating was like 13% - the lowest governor rating
in the nation.

It also doesn't hurt she looks better...not stunning, just
better.

I've heard this site used frequently...not sure if its hype
but here's the link: http://www.mccainpalin.com/

which is why they didn't understand why Alan Keyes didn't do better against Barack Obama.
