Note to self. We have surpassed silly season
it is now bone crushingly depressing season. It is so amazing how the American media can take something-anything new, fresh, and exciting and then mash it between their sweaty palms until there is nothing but a wadded mess left in it's place.

They are so ridiculous. Part of it is American news/political junkies. Using a sports analogy, some people who follow a team are content to read the box scores and maybe a brief summary of a game. If there is a particularly noteworthy game or performance it may deserve a feature story. If the drama of playoffs create an even more special moment, there may be some in depth analysis. But these days with FoxSports,ESPN, ESPN2, The Ocho, etc....it gets to the point where you got som overpaid bozo doing analysis of not only a meaningless preseason game and who is the hero or goat...they are providing in depth analysis of fantasy sports picks and on it goes.

We would be just as well served to have the news media cut in to regular programming, show the convention speeches, and then say bu-bye. Nope. People that can't change the channel are subjected to slicing and dicing a 20 minue speech to death. THey get to hear color of dress, order of speakers, certain inflections culled over ad infinitum. And this is just day one.

Ahhhh.........I remember when the news was just the facts and only the facts.

Oh...and in an unrelated comment...you know you are unhinged and bitter if you are finding ways to be bothered by Caroline Kennedy as some posters here obviously are. Get on the bus or get out of the way. Obama is going to win. You can either be on the bus with him or left behind. Clintons have the same choice. Get over it, Bill. You were good. But you weren't THAT good.

1. I don't know how anyone watches the cable shows or teevee "news" at all.
I flip to the channels that offer the most uncut coverage and when they run out, I turn it off. Teevee is enough to give you a hernia just from enduring the stupid. Even Keith was coddling that Ken "a world without Latinos" Burns who had nothing to add. Nada.

American media is an oxymoran.

5. I really watch so little of them now. I can't believe I was lured before
I mean, even the nightly fucking news with the anchor babies is so stupid. They are all first and foremost selling you something. THey don't want to talk about anything truly meaningful in a meaningful way. The new approach networks and their editors/anchors take to nightly rundown of news is something that has been and should continue to be documented. They neve believe it is their responsibility to give the viewer a true in depth understanding of multiple facets of an issue such as Ossetia breakaway from Georgia and Georgia's resonse and then Russia's counter response.

They don't talk about why exactly it is many Americans are in the pickle they are in. Why? Because their parent conglomerates are part of the problem.

Speaking of that, nothing cracks me up with a wry smile and shake of my head like credit card companies who are raping and pillaging consumers actually putting out commercials where they say "put the bottle down". I think they know the success companies like Philip Morris had in putting out "anti smoking" ads targeted to kids that were found to actually cause an increase in teen smoking.

We are well and truly mindfucked 100 times a day even when we don't watch TV.

7. And to this point, the anchor babies and their satellites
have been working feverishly to sell us: a divided Democratic Party due to bitter Clintons and their unforgiving supporters.

It's over the top, IMHO. I would LOVE some balanced political analysis and some thoughtful and substantive interviews, but they are not in the business to provide that. They ARE in the business of SELLING for the GOP; and they are currently SELLING a McCain victory due to angry Clinton voters who aren't going to support Obama.

6. Keith was TALKING to, not "coddling," the guy who MADE THE TED KENNEDY MOVIE
that had just been shown. Sheesh.

What the hell makes you think Ken Burns OR Keith Olbermann want "a world without Latinos"? And please don't get into the whole thing about "The War." It doesn't prove that either man wants "a world without Latinos."

8. You can find out about Ken yourself with the google.
And it's not only The War, where he couldn't find a single Latino in Sacramento, California. It's his whole career.

2. Bill was THAT good...
and I say that as someone who supported Obama in the primaries and was very disturbed by some of Bill's actions. But don't forget the fact that he is really the only Democratic Presidential candidate to have success in a long, long time.
